Sony’s mid-range device entry to the market, the Xperia 10 and 10 Plus is currently receiving the January 2020 security patch update. It happens to be with build number 53.0.A.14.47. Well, the update is still based on Android 9.0 Pie and not Android Q. There is no confirmation when the device will receive Android 10.
If you haven’t received the update yet, and wonder what the software has under its sleeves for the Xperia 10 and 10 Plus, then let us tell you that users have reported no changelog with the update. However, the only visible change was the step up to January 2020 security patch. Recently, the January 2020 patch also made its way into the Xperia 1 and Xperia 5 running Android 10.

Then flash the same on your Xperia 10 and 10 Plus to step the security level up to that of January 2020. Check OTA Update
Some of the users may be worried that why they are not receiving the latest software update on their devices.? Let us tell you that OTA depends on geographical location, tele-carriers, etc which kind of decides which region should the update first head to.
Usually, the OEM’s country of origin sees the first rollout followed by other regions. This applies to global rollouts as well. So, coming back to the issue, in case you are yet to see a prompt for the January 2020 security patch for your Xperia 10 and 10 Plus, then you can manually search for it. If it’s available then you can capture it.
Go to device Settings –> About Phone –> Software Update. If the latest software update with build 53.0.A.14.47 is available in your area, then you can download it right away. It is a smart move to use Wi-Fi to download the update while not getting charged for carrier data. Besides, it is a good practice to have over 50% of battery charge on your Xperia 10 and 10 Plus, so you don’t face issues like shutdown or cannot install due to low battery issues.
