Updated on October 15, 2020: Today Sony rolled the September 2020 security patch update for the Sony Xperia 1 / Xperia 5. The update brings the software version 55.1.A.9.101.

Sony Xperia 1 and Xperia 5 started receiving June 2020 security patch with build number 55.1.A.9.21. The update is now available for download officially in this guide below.

As we speak, this update is available for download via FOTA (firmware over the air) which fixes the potential security issues with some bug fixes and improvements. We highly recommend you to install this update for better security enhancements.
