AGM X2 – ruggedness redefined!
You would agree that one of the major threat our smartphone are faced with on a daily basis is physical damage. I do not have the numbers or figures, but I can make a wild, 50% correct guess that at least 2 in every 10 smartphone users drop their phones by accident on a daily. And majority of the time this falls or drops happen, there’s always a damage done to the phone.
Now imagine the thought of spending hundreds of dollars on a smartphone, only for it to get broken or damaged probably by your 2-year old toddler. Leaves you spending additional dough for repair – bad investment. This is where Rugged smartphones come into play.
We have seen many Rugged smartphones from many OEMs in the past, and as you know it, a large percentage of them were mostly focused on the physical aspect – giving the devices a rugged look, and neglecting the internal components.
The AGM X2 is, however different. Peek some specs of the AGM X2 below before we delve deep into the review, price and where to buy.

As expected of every rugged smartphone, the AGM X2 rocks the default tough, rock-solid appearance that immediately gives it off as a device crafted to withstand the toughest conditions – physical, environmental, climatic etc. With a mix of plastic and metal, the device is bulky and heavy – this is expected though.
I have to mention that the AGM X2 comes with the IP68 certification which confers its resistance to water and dust. This means you can take the device swimming, use in the bathroom, kitchen and use underwater – not deeper than 1.5meter – for a duration of 30 minutes.
On the rear, the fingerprint sensor, loudspeaker, dual camera, and dual LED flash. The arrangements looks quite scattered but it really doesn’t matter – it’s a rugged smartphone innit?
The AGM X2 is super thick and bulky – at 14.0mm – most like because if the nature of the device. On the right-hand side of the device are the volume adjustment keys and power/lock button.
Display-wise, the AGM X2 has one for the best display you can find on a rugged phone. The 5.5-inch screen is of AMOLED type and it has a FHD resolution and pixel density of 401 ppi.
Processor, OS, and Storage
To the feature I find most exciting on this device – the RAM. The AGM X2 packs a collosal 6GB of RAM and this leaves me jaw-dropped. Again, this isn’t something you find in the average rugged phone. The combination of this huge RAM, the Android Nougat v7.1 operating system and 1.9GHz Snapdragon 653 SoC will perform some fluid and sleek magic in the overall device operations and multitasking.
To store files, there is likewise – just like the RAM – a colossal 64GB internal memory to cater for your storage needs. There is even a second version of the device that comes out-of-the-box with 128GB of ROM. Both versions have a dedicated SD card slot and can take up to 128GB of external storage.
Like its predecessor, the AGM X1, AGM continues to make its rugged phones stand out by featuring dual cameras on the rear of AGM X2. The lens are identical 12-megapixels lens and they are accompanied by dual LED flash. The camera on the front is a single 16-megpixels lens.
So, be it on a hiking trip, or a vacation to the beach, or perhaps canoeing, the AGM X2 will only not get damaged in all of those places, but will take the best selfie images on all your adventurous trips.
The AGM X2 comes with a Lithium Polymer battery of 6,000mah capacity. The battery is not detachable and thanks to the Quick Charge feature of the device, it takes only about 3 hours to get a full charge when the battery is totally drained.
