HMD Global has launched recently its first-ever punch-hole display smartphone called Nokia X71 in Taiwan. The smartphone comes as a mid-range budget device from Nokia with quite decent specs and features out-of-the-box. The device comes with a 19.3:9 aspect ratio of a 6.39-inch Full HD+ display. Well, GSI stands for Generic System image which is a “pure Android” implementation with unmodified Android Open Source Project (AOSP) code, runnable on a variety of Android devices that has treble support. Google rolled Android 10, the 10th iteration of Android OS with the codename Q. It will be supported by most of the devices that came out in 2019 and 18. Even if your device is not officially supported, then you may try the Android 10 GSI build on your device.

Nokia X71 Specifications

The Nokia X71 device has launched by HMD Global and it’s one of the first smartphones by Nokia which comes in a punch-hole display after Honor and Samsung devices.

The handset comes in 6.39-inch Full HD+ 1080 × 2316 pixels resolution with a 19.3:9 aspect ratio display. The device is powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 660 SoC coupled with 6GB of RAM and 64GB/128GB of inbuilt storage. The device also sports a rear-mounted fingerprint sensor.


Nokia X71 runs on Android 9.0 Pie Stock Android while we can expect that the global version will come with Android One platform. The X71 packs a 3,500 mAh battery with an 18W fast charging support. It features a triple rear camera setup of 48MP+8MP (wide angle)+5MP depth sensor with an LED flash. The rear camera supports up to 4K video recording @30fps. Meanwhile, the 16MP selfie camera features AI portrait and HDR mode.

The handset includes connectivity options such as a 3.5mm audio jack, USB Type-C port, Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, GPS, A-GPS, GLONASS, 4G LTE, Dual Nano-SIM, etc. It features some of the sensors like proximity, gyro, ambient light, compass, etc.

Google has started rolling out the latest Android 10 version update to its Pixel series devices which is the 10th iteration of Android OS. It brings plenty of new features to the device system like system UI, new gesture navigation, improved privacy and location control. Steps to Install Android 10 ROM on Nokia X71 (tas)


PHH’s AOSP Android 10 GSIs are still marked as a pre-release. Even on a device that runs Pie GSIs nicely, it’s still possible to get broken media, camera, RIL or even flat-out no-boot. You are strongly advised to try PHH’s original and then identify/report issues there, before moving onto other GSIs that is based on this work. Please report bugs there only if it’s specific to this GSI.
