With the latest iteration of Android in full swing, we are seeing quite a few OEMs coming forward. The likes of Oppo, Vivo, and OnePlus have all joined the Android 11 Beta bandwagon. However, with Asus things seems a little bleak with Pro M1. While other devices are busy getting the taste of Android 11, the Max Pro M1 is yet to get the Android 10 (Q) update. Therefore the impatient wait by the users is only justified. While they are awaiting the Android Q update, there seems to be another news that might end up on the disappointing side for them. The Asus ZenFone Max Pro M1 is highly unlikely to get the ARCore support in the Android 10 update that it might get in the near future.
The 6-inch device has a Qualcomm SDM636 Snapdragon 636 under the hood. it also holds some pretty impressive camera setup, with 16+5 rear cameras combination a single 16MP front-facing camera in the highest model. Talking about the variants, there exist three different combinations: 32GB 3GB RAM, 64GB 4GB RAM, 128GB 6GB RAM. To support all these features you get a mammoth 5000mAh battery. Since the device is having an impressive spec sheet, considering it was launched two years, the absence of ARCore will definitely sadden a few Asus ZenFone Max Pro M1 device owners.
The Need for ARCore on Android?
For the unawares, the ARCore support makes it possible for an Android device to run Augmented Reality applications. They are increasingly being used not only in the gaming department but in the infotainment industry as well. Apart from that, some environmental interactions in the form of Motion Tracking, Environmental understanding, and Light Estimation are also possible. So with so much of goodies at stake, it hype is all the more justified. However, due to the absence of the ARCore support on the Asus ZenFone Max Pro M1, these users won’t be able to join this hype mill.
Other Rumoured Missing Features
Unfortunately, that isn’t the only missing feature. The slow-motion video recording, VoWiFi, native call recording, and native video calling. All these news aren’t just from any random source but the replies have come from the company itself, on the official Zenfone forum.
As far as the ARCore support is concerned, its absence was just confirmed yesterday. On being asked for the Google AR Core support, the reply was in the negative.
Along the same lines, the VoWiFi and native call recording and video calling functionality have been rejected by Asus. The company has no plans to support or add these features to the device.
So should you take this news with a pinch of salt? Unfortunately no. This is because the replies are from the company’s support team itself and it more often than not, it comes out to be true.
