Motorola released the new Moto Z2 Play, the next generation of its modular concept. Currently, if you are using this device, I will suggest you go through the fundamental and I don’t mean installing some apps or trying special features. I am referring to special procedures which will help you tweak and optimize the overall Android experience. And the first operation that should be checked out is reaching the recovery environment. In order to make everything crystal clear, we will discuss the steps that must be followed for entering and using the fastboot mode on Moto Z2 Play.
Recovery is a special mode that runs on your Android device. This mode runs independently from the Android mode and can be accessed through dedicated reboot procedures (it cannot be reached from built-in settings). A recovery mode is a hidden option as its environment enables you to access and customize the Android core system.
By default, your Moto Z2 Play runs on stock recovery. Through this built-in mode, you can perform only supported operations. The environment is pre-loaded with different restrictions which are there to limit your access. So, with the stock recovery, you will be able to perform processes such as ADB side-loading OTAs, flashing .zip files, making a hard reset, or clearing app data cache. But, if you will want to extend your access and tweak the performance of your phone you will have to replace the stock recovery with a custom platform such as TWRP or CWM recovery.
With the help of a custom recovery image, you will be able to unleash the true potential of your Moto Z2 Play. Here are a few examples of custom operations that can be applied through CWM or TWRP recovery: ensuring root access on your device, making backups for saving the current Android firmware, removing bloatware and start-up programs, adding features and capabilities that aren’t available on the default Android OS, install apps from other sources than Google Play, installing custom ROMs like Lineage OS, AOKP or Paranoid Android, flashing custom MODs and kernels, or overclocking / undervolting CPU frequencies.
