How to catch Dorado in Animal Crossing: New Horizons?

Like many other fishes in the game, the Dorado is a fairly rare fish that has specific spawn timings. If you are looking to find a Dorado, you need to ensure you meet the following conditions:

  • Time (Northern Hemisphere): 4 am – 9 pm, June – September
  • Time (Northern Hemisphere): 4 am – 9 pm, December-March
  • Size: Large
  • Price: 15,000 Bells

Once you have ensured that you meet the above conditions, you can start venturing out on your hunt for the Dorado. First of all, you need to go to the river on your island and start looking for large shadows of fishes. Once you find a large shadow, you should ensure that you line up with it properly and throw your fishing line in the proper direction. When the fish catches the fishing hook, you will hear a sound, and you need to quickly press the button to take it out. Make sure you do it quickly; else, the fish will run away.

The fish is a bit rare, so you need to ensure that you properly search for it else you won’t be able to find it. Make sure you check all sections of the river on your island. Do note that if you run very close to the fish, it will get scared and disappear. So you should be walking at all times near the river to make sure you don’t scare away the fish. If you have searched for it and still can’t find it, then you need to probably use the bait. Crafting a bait is fairly simple; all you need is one Manila clam. Manila Clams are easily found on your island. You need to go to the seashore and find a place in the ground where there is water spurting out. Take out your shovel and dig the place, and you will get the Manila Clam. Head on to your workbench and craft the bait. Once you have the bait, just throw it into the river, and the fish will spawn instantly. Make sure you catch all the fishes since you can as well find a rarer fish while catching the Dorado.

The Dorado can be sold for a whopping 15,000 bells in the game and can ease off some of your loans to a considerable extent. So if you are looking for a Dorado, it is probably the right thing to do considering the value it offers once you catch the fish, head on to Nook’s Cranny to sell it, and get your bells.
