The smartphone market in India is boomed with midrange smartphones. Xiaomi just launched two new smartphones in the same budget range. The new Xiaomi Redmi 8 & Redmi 8A are the latest offering from Xiaomi. However, with the current advancements in technology, people are now expecting more and more from budget range smartphones. So Today we are doing Xiaomi Redmi 8 & 8A waterproof test to find out whether they are waterproof or not.

The demand for a budget-friendly smartphone is increasing day by day in the Indian smartphone market. This is the reason why we are able to see different competing brands with affordable smartphone options filled with features. Xiaomi Redmi 8 & 8A are also an example of this. Both come with impressive specifications. However, the question arises, that ar they actually waterproof? Well, giving out waterproof certification at such a low price is very rare. But we have seen Realme done this before with their Realme 5. So let’s see if the new Xiaomi Redmi 8 & 8A are waterproof smartphones or not.

Xiaomi launched both these devices this week in India. These devices are supposedly the successor of the Redmi 7 series. Redmi 8 comes with an upgraded primary camera along with a 5000 mAh battery. And they support the new Aura mirror design with them.

Where Redmi 8A can be considered as a smaller brother to the original Redmi 8. It comes to a fraction of the cost and gives almost the same specifications. However, the colors don’t have that Auro mirror design.

Conclusion

After conducting a waterproof test on both Xiaomi Redmi 8 & Redmi 8A, we can say that these devices are no means waterproof. Both of these devices are also not Splashproof as well. So users need to take proper care while handling their devices. Any accidental juice of the coffee spill can ultimately damage the device.

  • Not to take underwater photos with the device
  • Don’t make or receive calls in rain or while taking a shower
  • Not to take underwater selfies etc.
  • Do not drink coffee, soft drink or alcohol when you’re using your device.
