The Essential Phone is getting the latest software update. The latest update from Andy Rubin’s new firm brings the build number to NMI64C and includes the September security update. We have seen many updates from Essential since it began shipping phones every month, bringing camera improvements, shattered bugs, and performance improvements.
We do need to give credit where it’s due. Essential has been pumping out updates in a timely fashion up to now. There is always a panic with a more or less established business that updates will take a backseat to other priorities. Security scares like BlueBorne reveal precisely how essential updates could be and we are glad a minimum of one OEM is listening.
It’s quite impressive that Essential was able to drive the September security update the identical day it became available to Pixel and Nexus owners. Early reports indicate that the phone feels a lot more fluid when scrolling and also a few graphical issues are ironed out. You may go into the Settings and manually check for your 175 MB update.
