Samsung is always punctual in seeding updates, let it be any monthly or Android OS upgrade. Last quarter of 2017, the Android Oreo Beta program was in full throttle with series rollout happening every few days. Initially, Samsung’s Oreo Beta program was for the S8(plus) flagship phones. Later the Oreo beta also began rolling for newer flagship Galaxy Note 8. Well, there is a plot twist to it. Other older ‘S’ series Galaxy smartphones will also be getting OS level step-up to Android 8.0. A recent leak clarifies that Galaxy S6 Android Oreo rollout will begin in February. A representative for Samsung reveals in a convo about Galaxy S6 getting Android OS upgrade somewhere towards January or February. So, Galaxy S6 Users, fasten your seat belts to experience Android O.
Samsung Galaxy S6 Android Oreo Rollout
It may sound too good to be true since Galaxy S6 is quite an older flagship. Usually, any device gets a major Android OS update within one or two year timeframe from its release. Last year we saw some really older mid range Samsung devices getting Android 7.0 Nougat update. So we cannot really blow away the fact that Galaxy S6 will taste a bite of the Oreo. Also, before Galaxy S6, there is Galaxy S7 and its variants that are in line to get Android O. It’s only a matter of time.
As usual, there is no exact date specified for Galaxy S6 Android Oreo rollout as such. This is just a clarification statement and not a timeframe confirming statement from the Samsung representative. Stable Oreo is yet to seed for those devices that are on Beta OS. So, Galaxy S6 Android Oreo roll out will definitely happen but we believe it will probably drop around later weeks of February. Again, we saw how much bugs the Oreo beta had when initially rolled out for Galaxy S8. Taking all that into account, we can expect the Galaxy S6 Android Oreo rollout to happen in Beta versions as well.
So, as of now keeping the finger crossed is all the Galaxy S6 users can do. Although no timeline is confirmed, Galaxy S6 Android Oreo rollout will happen for sure.
