The HOMTOM S9 Plus is one of the latest device to join the brand’s S-series army. Launched in October 2017, the S9 Plus is the upgrade to the HOMTOM S8 and it features a chunk of modern-day trends and specs rocking the smartphone scene.
The device falls into the “budget bezel-less smartphone” category and to be honest, with the specifications it carries, it doesn’t extraordinarily stand out as every flagship smartphone should. Design
With a full metal body, the HOMTOM S9 Plus is a sparkling beauty. The metal body is glossy and reflective – the silver colour of the device also seem like a mirror. In furtherance, you may – like myself – particularly dislike the S9 Plus because f its thick and heavy nature. The device measures 8.2mm and weighs more than 200 grams (207g).
At the bottom of the S9 Plus, the micro USB port is placed at the middle and to the left and right of it are the loudspeaker grills. The 3.5mm headphone jack sits at the top, volume rockers and power button to the left edge of the device’s SIM/SD card try is located on the right edge.
When viewed from the rear, the dual camera set-up and dual LED flash can be found at the top left corner. On the flip side (the front), the device comes with little next to no bezels at the sides and at the top, but at the bottom, there’s a huge chunk of bezel – to give room for home button (which also doubles as the fingerprint sensor) and the selfie camera. With this design, HOMTOM joins the league of other OEMs repositioning their front camera to the bottom of the display to give room for more space for the display.
The design however comes with its own disadvantage – having to turn your device upside-down to get a perfect shooting angle for your selfies.
Display
The HOMTOM S9 Plus has a pretty big phablet-sized 6.0-inch display. The screen is an IPS LCD capacitive touchscreen with an HD+ display (720 x 1440 pixels) and 268ppi pixel density. These display properties are relatively low for the size and may do poorly in terms of high quality and colour image rendition.
The screen is slightly (2.5D) curved to the right and left edges but, sadly, lacks display protection mechanism of any sort. So you might wanna implement care when handling the device.
Processor, OS, and Storage
Powering the HOMTOM S9 Plus is the MediaTek MT6750 chip which comes with Octa-core Cortex-A53 processor with 1.5GHz frequency speed. In furtherance, the device hardware is made of huge 4GB of RAM and 64GB of internal storage. The built-in memory should do well enough take care of basic phone storage needs. And if not, the SD card slot can take memory stick of up to 128GB.

The selfie camera is on the front and is of 13-megapixels with an f/2.0 aperture and a single LED flat.
Battery
Powering the HOMTOM S9 Plus is a non-detachable Lithium Ion battery with a capacity 4,060mAh. The battery can conveniently give a day of usage – depending on intensity of usage – and has a charge time of 2 hours.
