Talk about VoWiFi (WiFi Calling) feature that has been quite a in demand ever since it was launched by two of the major carrier networks in India, Airtel and Jio, several OEMs have already pushed this update for their eligible devices. Huawei, on the other hand, has been pretty late in joining the party, but its sub-brand, Honor has been on its toes and has upgraded many of its phones with this VoWiFi (WiFi calling) feature over the air via an update. And another Honor phone has been ticked off from the list as Honor is now pushing a new update for the Honor 9N that enables the VoWiFi feature along with the March 2020 security patchset.
For those who do not know, VoWiFi makes use of your WiFi connection in places where there is no or low signal, allowing the users to make a clear and high-quality call in areas of low coverages. Talk about the update, it arrives with version number 18.104.22.168 and weighs in around 622 MB in size, which is okay considering this update also enables the WiFi calling feature for the Honor 9N alongside bumping the security patch level to March 2020. Below is the complete changelog of the update along with the screenshot of the update.
This update enables VoWiFi feature, and also includes Android patches for improved system security.
- Enables the VoWiFi feature for certain carriers.
- Integrates Android security patches released in March 2020 for improved system security.
Ideally, the update will be rolled over to the Honor 9N via OTA in batches and will take some time in hitting the units. Users can, however, go and check for the update manually by heading over to Settings>>About Phone>>System Updates. But, for those who do not wish to wait for the update and want to upgrade their phones manually, locally, then you can grab the update package file from the below section:
