You have to choose and enable an unlock method before setting up fingerprint recognition. Here’s how to do that:

  1. From the Home Screen, slide down the Notification panel
  2. Press on the ‘gear’ icon from below the selfie camera
  3. Go to Lock Screen
  4. Scroll down and tap on the Screen Lock Type
  5. Now you can select PIN, password, or pattern as the unlocking method for your Galaxy Note 10 or Note 10 Plus
