If you are the owner of the ZTE Axon 10 Pro smartphone and are looking for ways to unlock the bootloader of the device then, you are at the right place. As in this post, we will guide you on how to unlock the bootloader on the ZTE Axon 10 Pro device. The ZTE Axon 10 Pro was launched in May 2019. Like all other smartphones, the ZTE Axon 10 Pro smartphone also has a locked bootloader. The method to unlock the bootloader for the Axon 10 Pro is a bit different and would require a special EDL tool in order to get it done. Moreover, the tool allows the user to automatically unlock the bootloader of the ZTE Axon 10 Pro.

Thanks to XDA Developer, Unjustidied Dev for developing this EDL Tool for ZTE Axon 10 Pro device, that simplifies the process of bootloader unlocking. Since there is no official method to unlock the bootloader, it would be a tedious task to get the bootloader unlocked. However, this tool can be used on the normal variant of the ZTE Axon 10 Pro i.e. the 5G model is not supported. So, without any further ado, let us get straight into the article itself;

How to unlock bootloader on ZTE Axon 10 Pro

Before we begin the unlocking of the bootloader on Nubia Z20, let us take a deep look at what is a bootloader and what advantages or disadvantages you get, once you unlock it;

What is Bootloader?

A bootloader is a program that is the first thing that boots up in your device whenever you turn ON your device. It commands the device to run the appropriate programs in order to run smoothly and provide better performance. Moreover, the bootloader is stored away from the reach of the user and is stored at a stable memory so that the user could not hamper the files. However, there are methods and ways via which you can safely unlock the bootloader of the device and go ahead with flashing a custom recovery to root your device. But, you should make sure to follow a reliable guide and follow the steps correctly in order to avoid any permanent damage to your phone.

Advantages

  • You can install any custom ROM like Lineage OS, Resurrection ROM, etc.
  • You can also root your device.
  • Install a custom recovery like TWRP.

Disadvantages

Advertisements
  • After unlocking the bootloader, it voids the warranty of your device.
  • You will no longer receive the official OTA updates.
  • You can brick your device if you do not follow the steps carefully.

Features of the Program

  1. Automatically reboot the phone into EDL mode
  2. Unlock the bootloader for supported variants only
  3. Finds the connected phone and forces the COM-port speed to 115200
  4. You can flash, backup, and restore
  5. Analyzes folders for missing required files

Warning

Before we begin with the unlocking of bootloader, I would strongly recommend you to create a backup of your device storage and all your files stored on your device. Unlocking of bootloader will wipe off the entire data on your device. Moreover, it is advised to follow the steps mentioned in this post very carefully to avoid permanent damage or bricking of your device. If anything goes wrong the author or GetDroidTips are not responsible for it.

Pre-requisites

  • The program must be unpacked
  • Before using the program, make sure that:
    • It is desirable to copy the program to the root of the disc, for example, C:\Axon10_EDL_Tool\ or D:\Axon10_EDL_Tool
    • You launched this program as administrator
    • You have drivers installed, preferably original for Axon 10
  • Read all the instructions and follow the procedure carefully to avoid any issues.
  • Make sure to keep your device battery charged up to 50% at least for a smoother process.
  • It is highly recommended you to take a complete backup of your device’s internal data. All of your device data will delete.
  • You need a USB cable to connect your device with PC.

Structure of the Program Folders

As mentioned in the XDA website, here is the structure of the program folder for this EDL Tool;

  1. Folder flash – in this folder you need to copy the files you want to flash
    Subfolders:

    • folder full – if you want to flash full firmware (official, adapted for EDL mode), then in this folder you need to put all the files from the firmware for EDL mode:
      its name usually looks like this: A2020 _……._ FULL_EDL
    • folder boot – if you want to flash your kernel file, you need to put a file named: boot.img in this folder (the file name must be exactly that!)
    • folder modem – if you want to flash your modem file, you need to put a file named: NON-HLOS.bin in this folder (the file name must be exactly that!)
    • folder splash – if you want to flash your splash file, you need to put a file named: splash.img in this folder (the file name must be exactly that!)
  2. Folder backup – the folder contains backup copies of the phone partitions created by the program
    Subfolders:

    • folder all – this folder contains backups of all partitions, except userdata
    • folder full – this folder contains a backup of all partitions included in the FULL EDL firmware
    • folder boot – this folder contains a backup of the boot partition
    • folder recovery – this folder contains a backup of the recovery partition
    • folder modem – this folder contains a backup of the modem partition
    • folder splash – this folder contains a backup of the splash partition
  3. Folder logs – contains all the logs of the program
  4. Folder tools – contains all the necessary files for the program (do not touch it!)
