Andy Rubin’s first – and only – smartphone, Essential Phone is once again at the forefront when it comes to security patch updates. Today Essential company started rolling the latest January 2018 Security patches for Essential Phone PH-1. With the January security patch update which started seeding in a few hours ago, the team raises their shields against the two dangerous security flaws known as Meltdown and Specter vulnerabilities. The update comes with build number NMJ88C.
The update is already rolling via OTA (Over the air) and has also been communicated via the Essential team’s Twitter account, so as to keep users constantly updated. You can either wait for the OTA update to hit your phone or you can manually check the OTA update to see whether you have any update. As we said, the update is rolling in a phase-wise manner, it may take awhile to receive the update.

The new build NMJ88C requires about 66MB of data to download and does not make changes to the Android version that remains the same with Android 7.1.1 Nougat. As we know, soon this device will receive the stable Oreo firmware. Currently, the Android Oreo is in beta stage.

To Check for latest Update, Go to Settings -> About Phone -> Software Updates.

- Charge your phone up to 80% or 70%
- You need Laptop or PC.
