Keecoo is a budding smartphone manufacturer within the heart of Shenzhen, China. The OEM has its focus on producing budget and low-priced and women-friendly smartphones. Keecoo was founded in 2009 and made its first ever smartphone, the Keecoo K1 two years later (in 2011).
The company haven’t drifted away from its focus of making low-priced smartphones as one of its latest smartphone, the Keecoo P11 is an evidence. The Keecoo P11 —released in December 2017— is an under $100 smartphone with top level feature like the trending Face ID recognition unlock technology among others. Covered metal and plastic body of Black or Silver colour, the Keecoo P11 comes in an attractive, eye-catching rectangular body build. The form and design is basic, but impressive; volume rockers and power button are on the lefthand side, while the port for SIM and TF cards is located on the right. T slim and lightweight nature of the Keecoo P11 is a property of the device I kind of love the most. The P11 is only 7.8mm slim and weighs only 135 grams.
About 80% of the device’s frontal real estate is occupied by the display. The display is covered by a scratch-resistant 2.5D curved glass with tiny bezel on the sides. The screen is sized 5.7 inches, comes in the trending 18:9 aspect ratio, has an HD+ resolution and 282 ppi pixel density. Not only do you get bigger display space, you also get wide viewing angles and bright colours of images and pictures.
On the smooth metal body finish on rear, the fingerprint scanner, LED flash, and primary camera are at the top quarter. The primary camera is an 8-megapixels Sony IMX219PQ Exmor R Sensor with an f/2.2 aperture and HD recording support.
Right above the display, a 5-megapixels 90-degree wide-angle lens for taking selfies. Interestingly, the front camera of the Keecoo P11 supports Facial Recognition and allows unlocking of the device with the configured facial properties of the device owner.
Under the hood, the Keecoo P11 is powered by one of MediaTek’s mid-range chip, the MediaTek MT6737 chip which comes with the Mali T720 GPU and four cores (Quad-core) with a clock speed of 1.3GHz. To handle the fluid simultaneous running of multiple apps, there is 2GB of RAM put in charge for your daily multitasking needs. Built-in memory is 16GB —this may be a tiny storage space but thanks to the SD card slot, it can be expanded to 128GB using an external TF card.
The P11 ships with a modified version of the Android v7.0 Nougat; meaning users will enjoy features like enhanced notifications, multi-window multitasking, background optimization, data saver and more.
Due to the slim body of the Keecoo P11, it manages to pack only 2,700mAh battery pack. The battery is non-removable but the battery juice can give a day of usage. The device also comes with the fast charge technology which ensures that the battery charges to 100% in less than 2-3 hours.
Again, the Keecoo P11 is a budget smartphone under $100. It is a very affordable device that costs $99 only.
