Elephone was launched back in 2006. The brand launched its first-ever Android-enabled device in 2013 and has since introduced plenty of devices in the budget and mid-range category with high-end designs and specifications. Elephone was among the first to ditch the bezels around the side edges in a budget phone. It recently introduced its 5 AI camera-enabled Elephone A5. It offers a tonne of smartphones to choose from across all categories with triple cameras and pop-up selfie shooters, vivid types of notches to full-screen devices and more along with their accessories that you’ll on its website.
We are about to welcome the next tenth-generation of Android OS which is now officially known as Android 10 after Google made it public a few days before its September 3rd launch. Android 10 packs in some of the best features referenced from the previous generation of Android OSes while bringing some of the best features and functionalities as a result of constant change in user’s requirements and requisites.
Launched already, the Mountan View tech giant has already released global rollout for Google Pixel devices, Essential Phones, followed by smartphones listed under Project Treble and so on. Android 10 will bring native support to 5G, foldable devices, and dark mode. Furthermore, the upgrade will bring features such as a new permission-based system for apps and services, new navigational gesture and user interface which is light and powerful and these are just a few of the features that I have named.

Android 10 Features
Security Updates: With more than 2.5 billion Android devices spread across different make & model, updates to these phones is a ‘lengthy’ process. Speaking about security patches that Google releases every month, these are crucial to shield against any intruders. With Project Mainline, you will get the security updates and bug fixes right from within the Google Play Store. You can download it similar to how you update an app so enjoy.
5G & Foldable Display Ready: Two of the most sought after upcoming technologies are 5G and foldable displays. Well, Android 10 comes ready with both the tech so once smartphones with either or both the technologies are available, you can simply grab it without worrying for any compatibility issues.
Dark Theme: This is a much-awaited feature on Android OS. Now that Google has officially released a native system-wide feature, all Google apps support it while there are copious third-party that have already supported it while many are working on it.
Gesture Navigation: Unlike other Android OSes, the new Android 10 offers a state-of-the-art Gesture-based navigation system that takes advantage of the edges of the display. It uses the left & right edges to swipe backward while the bottom edge has a slick slider that can take you to the Home screen or towards app previews. There are a few other movements that the system uses to execute different tasks.
Digital Wellbeing: The new Digital Wellbeing app is active on Android 10 and brings plenty of features such as the Focus Mode that temporarily stops distracting apps. The app itself works towards recording phone usage and habits in an attempt to curb phone addiction in the long run.
Live Caption: Handy for a plethora of applications, Live Captions does a transcription of videos, audio files, podcasts, and even your recordings and that’s all at real-time. This eliminates the need to have an additional source for subtitles when watching a movie and of course, it is not restricted to only these few features I aforementioned.
Contaminant Detection: Water or moisture or debris stuck in the USB port can cause issues. It could impair the USB port of the critical components within the phone if the phone isn’t water-resistant. The Contaminant Detection that comes with Android 10 notifies users of any debris or moisture and renders all accessories that will connect with USB port unable to use until the foreign agents are removed.

Why my smartphone is not eligible for Android 10 update?
It is not that simple to render what was the reason that your phone model was excluded from the list of supported Android 10 updates. The thing is, Google sends out the update to the OEM where the latter reserves the call on whether which phones will receive the update and which will not.
On the OEM’s side, it has already launched a plethora of smartphones this year and the same applies for last year and so on. Instead of keeping the older models updated which involves working behind the curtain a lot, Android smartphone makers usually take the older model out of ventilator and pushes any Android updates to newer devices. Usually, the maximum period a smartphone is supported with updates is two years or two major Android updates. Furthermore, the processors are also involved in this process since they must be capable of supporting further upgrades or else the device is no longer supported.
Other factors that influence the probability of your device getting updates are release date (the maximum support period if 2 years), region if the device is locked or unlocked, etc. It is also possible that the OEM has shut down its business which will also render the phone of any further updates although this doesn’t happen just like that it is rather a gradual process.
What can I do if my phone is not supported with Android updates?
There are tonnes of custom ROMs that you can download such as the LineageOS which is among the most popular while others like Havoc OS, Paranoid Android, MIUI, Pixel Experience, Resurrection Remix OS, AOSP Extended among others. These custom ROMs are based on Android OS and thus wouldn’t need rooting the phone although you will have to be patient while installing it as it is a little time-consuming method. But doing so ensures you get the latest updated UI along with a long list of features including those who wished but couldn’t use on Android OS as well.
