The new MIUI 11.0.5.0 update (Android 9.0 Pie) for Redmi 7 is rolling out globally via OTA in a phased manner and will take a few days to appear on all the units. It brings the March 2020 Android Security Patch that fixes bugs and improves system security. Additionally, the update brings app vault and security optimization. If you want to install this update on your Redmi 7 (Codename: onclite) then you can either check for OTA updates or manually flash the firmware from the full step-by-step guide below.

Manually Check OTA Updates

Keep in mind that all the incremental OTA update roll-out always hit a limited number of units initially. Then the broader roll-out process starts and takes some time to arrive on all the units completely. So, it’s better to check for OTA updates manually to get notified.

In order to do that, go to the phone Settings > About Phone > Software update. Additionally, you can perform this task via the Software Updater app directly. If the software version is available, you can grab it.

Before downloading the OTA update, make sure to charge the phone battery up to 50% minimum and connect to a Wi-Fi network.
