Updated on September 1, 2020: Amidst, Android 10 update, Nokia is now rolling out the latest August 2020 security patchset for the Nokia 3.1 and Nokia 5.1 smartphone. Note that both the devices are still not updated to Android 10 while we are on the verge of the release of Android 11 OS in a few days. However, good thing is that at least users are now bumped into the latest security patchset on Nokia 3.1 and Nokia 5.1. The August 2020 security patch is a usual update for Nokia devices, and it does not bring anything new for the users. Here is the official changelog of the update:

The updates will be pushed in a staggered manner in batches and will take some time as they are pushed via OTA. However, if you eager to update your phone with the latest August 2020 patch based on Android 9 Pie, you can grab the package from the below section:
Updated on July 4, 2020: Nokia has now started rolling out the June 2020 security update for the Nokia 3.1 and 5.1 smartphone. The update is purely incremental in nature and does not bring any new features or bug fixes along with it. It weighs in around 111 MB in size for Nokia 3.1. The updates have been pushed for the duo via OTA in batches. This means that it will take some time in hitting all the units across various regions.

Updated on June 2, 2020: HMD Global revised its Android 10 update roadmap in lew of the COVID-19 outbreak that is happening across the globe. While, both the Nokia 3.1 and 5.1 were slated to receive the Android 10 update, as per the old roadmap, in Q2 of 2020, the revised plan pushed the update schedule to the end of June. And interestingly, the Android 9 Pie-based May security patches is now rolling out for the Nokia 3.1 and 5.1. The update for the Nokia 5.1 weighs in around 105 MB in size while the update for the Nokia 3.1 weighs in around 120 MB in size. Both the updates are purely incremental in nature.
Updated on March 04, 2020: After rolling February 2020 patches of an update to Nokia 6.1 Plus, Nokia 7 Plus, Nokia 5.1 Plus and many more. Today HMD Global started rolling the new security patch for February 2020 month for Nokia 5.1 with version v3.25H. The update is rolling via OTA (over the air) and will soon reach every user with Android 9.0 Pie and brings nothing new except a security patch and bug fixes. If you are waiting for the Android 10 update, then we have no official words from Nokia regarding the same.

As we know, the OTA update carries in a phase-wise manner; it may take a week or a month to complete the rollout process for every user base. If you haven’t received the update, then either you can check for the update manually or install the firmware manually. To install the firmware manually, you need to download the firmware with the same build number on your device.

Check for OTA Update Manually
Although Nokia devices are expected to receive faster firmware OTA updates these days, some times users find it delayed due to server and carrier. Therefore, it may take a day or two most probably to receive the OTA update notification on your Nokia 5.1 and Nokia 3.1 device.
However, we recommend you to check for OTA updates manually on an interval basis. Just head over to the Settings on your phone > tap on System > tap on Advanced > Select System update. It will check for the available OTA update. If yes, then you can easily download and install it.
