Updated August 12, 2020: Currently, the Nokia 4.2 is receiving the July 2020 security patch. Though it’s already August 2020, still Nokia is pushing a late software upgrade for the device. The new update weighs about 226MB. It brings improvement for the device stability and user interface. This award-winning handset from early 2019 is running on the Android 10. The Android devices have a two-year timeframe to receive system updates. We can hope the Nokia 4.2 will receive the Android 11 update this year or in early 2021.
The July 2020 OTA update is rolling out in batches. So, in a few days or by the next week everyone using the Nokia 4.2 should get the July 2020 security patch. You can always keep checking in the Settings app by refreshing the System Update section. You will anyway get a notification when the new update arrives on your device. Today a user posted a screenshot on Reddit about the February 2020 security patch for the Nokia 4.2. According to the screenshot, it says the size of the update weighs 60.5MB and carries nothing new except security patches and bug fixes.
