While every OEM are preparing to release April Security update for their devices, Motorola has been stuck with updating few of their devices to February and March Security Update. Recently moto updated Moto Z to February Security Patch in Europe. Today Motorola in US has started seeding a new update of February Security Patch for Moto Z units. The update has started rolling to all Moto Z users running Android 7.0 Nougat with build version number NPLS25.86-17-3-1. The new updates are pushed via OTA for all Moto Z running Stock Nougat Firmware. In this latest OTA update comes with February Security patch for Moto Z with some improvements and bug fix. The update is via OTA and will roll out in phase wise manner.

This update is still based on Android 7.0 Nougat and not on Android 7.1 Nougat. There is nothing new in this update except the February Security update with build number NPLS25.86-17-3-1 for Moto Z. Even though, we recommend to always keep your phone up to date with the latest security update. So make sure to update to keep your device safe as the February Security update has patched a whole host of vulnerabilities in Android.
The new update of February Security via update NPLS25.86-17-3-1 for Moto Z comes with some improvements in the overall ROM and stability with February security update.
Before hitting the download two things need to be ensured. First, your device needs to be connected to a WiFi network and second, your device’s battery needs to be fully charged
If you still waiting for this new February Security via update NPLS25.86-17-3-1 for Moto Z, Go to Settings –> About Phone–> System updates to see if you have Over-The-Air update. If your phone has received the latest OTA update, then tap YES, I’M IN and select Wi-Fi or Mobile network to download. Once the download is done, tap on INSTALL button to start updating your Moto Z with NPLS25.86-17-3-1. Before updating the February Security on Moto Z, first of all you need a WiFi connection to download and please make sure your battery have enough juice.

Manually Update the OTA for February Security via update NPLS25.86-17-3-1 for Moto Z
- First of all, Go to Settings –> About Phone –> Tap on Build Number 7 Times.
- Go to Developer Options –> Enable USB Debugging.
- Download Android Nougat for Moto Z from above and save it in Internal storage.
- Now Reboot Moto Z to Recovery Mode.
- Select Apply Update from SD Card.
- Select the Downloaded ZIP file from SD Card.
- Wait until Installation process Completes.
- Once the Installation completed. Reboot the Phone.
