Motorola started pushing the latest Android Security Patch update for the month February 2018 for Moto Z2 Play. The update moves the device software version to NPSS26.118-19-22. Now you can install NPSS26.118-19-22 February Security Patch on Moto Z2 Play.

The update is currently rolling via OTA (Over the air) as we speak. It weighs a mere 74.2 MB. Since it is rolling in a phase-wise manner, it may take some time to reach every user with Moto Z2 Play. The update is still based on Android 7.1.1 Nougat and brings the February Security Patch. There is no much information about the changes that included in the latest update.

Moto Z2 Play is a dual SIM smartphone launched in June 2017. The phone comes with a 5.50-inch touchscreen display with a resolution of 1080 pixels by 1920 pixels. It runs on 2.2GHz octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 626 processor and 4 GB of RAM. It comes with Android 7.1.1 Nougat out-of-the-box. This device packs a 64 GB of expandable internal storage.  Moto Z2 Play brings a 12-megapixel primary camera on the rear and a 5-megapixel camera on the front.

To Install the February Security Patch on Moto Z2 Play, you must be running Stock Firmware without any root. If you are running the latest update, then you will receive the software version NPSS26.118-19-22 on your phone. First of all, make sure your device needs to be connected to a WiFi network and second, your device’s battery needs to be fully charged.

How to Update NPSS26.118-19-22 February Security Patch Moto Z2 Play

  1. Make sure your device is fully charged and connected to Wi-Fi.
  2. Swipe down from the Notification bar, then tap the Settings icon.
  3. Scroll to and tap About phone > System updates.
  4. Follow the on-screen prompts to download and install the update.
  5. Tap Restart Now after the software installs to automatically restart your device.

To verify the software update

  1. Swipe down from the Notification bar, then tap the Settings icon.
  2. Scroll to and tap About phone.
  3. The device has the latest software if the Android versionBuild number, and Baseband version matches the current update details.

Steps to Install NPSS26.118-19-22 Firmware on Moto Z2 Play

There are basically two methods to update the device to the latest firmware. First one is by recovery method. The second method is by ADB sideload method.

Method-1 [Recovery Method]

  1. First of all, Unlock the bootloader on your phone. If your device is already unlocked, then skip this step.
  2. Now Install and Setup the ADB Fastboot on your PC.
  3. Move the downloaded Moto Z2 Play firmware to adb fastboot folder.
  4. Now boot your Moto Z2 Play into bootloader mode by turning the phone off, press and hold the VOLUME DOWN + POWER button simultaneously for few seconds until you see the bootloader menu on your phone screen.
  5. Once you are in the bootloader menu.
  6. Connect your Moto Z2 Play to PC using USB Cable
  7. Open the ADB Folder where you extracted the firmware file.
  8. In the adb folder, hold the Shift Key (keyboard) and click the Right-click button (mouse) on any empty screen inside the ADB Folder.
  9. You will be seeing this option to open the command window.

  10. Once you see the command screen, now you can type the below command one by one on your PC.
