Google is rolling out the November 2018 security patch update for its latest flagships Pixel 3 and Pixel 3XL. The current updates are also making their way to the older devices Pixel 2 and Pixel 2XL. The new build number which accompanies the software goes by PQ1A.181105.017.A1. Both Pixel 3/3XL and Pixel 2/2XL are getting an upgrade with this new build. The security step-up essentially deals with around 17 security vulnerabilities in the device. You can have a look at the official Android Security Bulletin for November 2018 from Google.
The latest security update is based on Android 9.0 Pie. The updates are making their way over-the-air to the Pixel 3 and Pixel 2 devices. Your device will receive the OTA update on automatically. If the software is yet to show up, then you can check for it manually. Go to the device Settings –> System Update –> tap on the Check for Update option. If you see the November Security Update for Google Pixel devices, tap on the download button to initiate the update.

How to Install November 2018 Security OTA PQ1A.181105.017.A1 on Pixel Devices
Either you can ADB sideload the ROM or you may perform the factory image installation. We will provide you with both the methods. First, we will see how the factory image installation works. Before that you have to get hold of some tools and follow some regular guidelines.
- Download the latest USB Drivers on your PC.
- Download and Install the ADB and Fastboot tool.
- A PC/Laptop
- A USB Cable
- Make sure that your device has at least 50% battery charge.
- Take a full backup on your phone before flashing the firmware.
- Enable the USB Debugging and OEM Unlock on your device.
- Download and Install the ABD and Fastboot drivers on your windows/MAC.

Steps of Installation
Step-1 open the ADB fastboot folder on your PC. It may there either on your desktop or C:/ADB i.e. Windows C drive.
Step-2 Next step is to extract the files of respective devices and move the files to the ADB folder.
Step-3 Now in the same ADB folder, press and hold the ‘Shift” key and right-click on anywhere inside the folder to select ‘Open command window here.’
Step-4 In the command prompt windows need to enter a command for which your phone has to be connected to your computer system. The command is as follows.
Step-5 Using the following command boot your handset into bootloader mode.
adb reboot bootloader
Step-6 Your device will now automatically reboot and enter the bootloader mode.
Step-7 Now begin the installing the latest ROM on your Pixel devices. Firstly, open the files that are present in the folder of ADB and simultaneously locate the flash-all script. To run the files double click on it to begin the installing process on your phone.
Step-8 You will be asked to press any key to exit as soon as you are through with flashing the respective build for the devices. Please do not exit from the terminal unless you are asked to do so.
Step-9 Finally, reboot your devices. Now you will be running the latest Google Android Security patch for November 2018 with build PQ1A.181105.017.A1 on your Pixel 3/3XL and 2/2XL.
