Despite seeing a few 5G smartphones being launched back in 2019, the year did not witness a mass 5G rollout as expected before. The primary problems which were facing by the manufactures launching these 5G capable smartphones were the lack of carrier and hardware support. While most major carriers only offered limited 5G connectivity, mass-market modems like the Snapdragon X50 failed to live up to the mark. Countries like India are not still ready for the working of the 5G.
This situation started improving towards December 2019 since Qualcomm has launched its new 5G capable chipsets. There were smartphones with the newly launched Qualcomm Snapdragon 865 and 765G chipsets featuring the more mainstream X52 5G modems. Manufacturers like Xiaomi and Realme has already started using the new chipsets in their smartphones and upcoming smartphones.
