Back in December 2019, Xiaomi launched its Redmi K30 series of smartphones in China. However, yesterday Xiaomi made the Redmi K30 5G’s 6GB variant was available in the sale. Although they didn’t unveil the more powerful Redmi K30 Pro in that launch event. The brand later said that it will be launched in March this year. There is some information about the device which helps us to know what we can expect from Redmi K30 Pro.
The Redmi K20 and K20 Pro don’t have any difference in their physical appearance. If both the devices are placed simultaneously one can’t notice the difference. So if we talk about the design of the upcoming Redmi K30 Pro, it would have the same design of Redmi K30 5G. The device will also have dual punch-hole and 120Hz refresh rate display as the K30. There are some reports that the K30 Pro will sport an FHD+ OLED Display. It will also carry support for an in-display fingerprint scanner. We can’t expect that the device to sport an OLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate because the K30 Pro’s prices will be cheaper. But if K30 Pro joins the OnePlus 8 for offering OLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate, then it would be possible.
The Redmi “K” series has been available in beautiful color combinations. This trend will also pass to the Redmi K30 Pro and will be offering in all color variants that Redmi K30 5G offers. We also expect the vertical camera setup on the Redmi K30 5G to transfer to the Redmi K30 Pro including that circular mirror design.
Coming to optics, if Snapdragon 865 SoC arrives in the K30 Pro, then it would have a drastic change compared to Redmi K30 5G. Although we aren’t expecting any change in the sensors used in the Redmi K30 5G. Even if they change the sensors it would significantly affect its pricing.
Talking about SoC, Qualcomm’s flagship SoC i.e. Snapdragon 865 with X55 modem will power the smartphone. This SoC supports dual-mode 5G networks. Lu Webing, President of Xiaomi China and General manager of Redmi said at MediaTek’s 1000L chipset launch. He said that the Redmi K30 Pro may also equip this MediaTek 1000L chipset. Although, this report isn’t verified yet.
Coming to the pricing of the device, the pricing of the Redmi K30 Pro 5G won’t be high as true flagships. And coming to the availability of the device, it will be only available in China and India. Even if it lands in Europe, it will be launching as a “Mi” smartphone not under the “Redmi” brand.
