Samsung is gearing up the launch for its Galaxy S20 series on February 11. Besides this, Samsung after several leaks has finally unveiled its new rugged smartphone i.e. Samsung Galaxy XCover Pro in the US. The phone can handle any extreme conditions just like other rugged smartphones.
The smartphone has a rugged design that can withstand extreme conditions with the improved protected exterior and the device also sports a touchscreen that is capable of using any condition i.e. heavy rain or snow. The brand also includes a new glove mode, by which the phone can be used evening using gloves. The device has two new programmable buttons that can be used for push-to-talk features.
Samsung Galaxy XCover Pro
The Samsung Galaxy XCover sports a 6.3-inch Infinity-O FHD+ display with Wet Touch and Glove Mode. The display has a pixel density of 409 PPI and an aspect ratio of 19:5:9. Corning Gorilla Glass 5’s layer also protects the smartphone. Samsung’s in-house Exynos 9611 powers the device which couples Mali-G72 GPU. The SoC pairs with 4GB of RAM and 64GB of onboard storage. This storage is further expandable via microSD card up to 512GB.
Coming to optics, the Samsung Galaxy XCover sports a dual rear camera setup. This setup includes a 25MP primary sensor which couples with an 8MP ultra-wide-angle lens. To the front, the device has a 13MP sensor. The Samsung Galaxy XCover Pro packs a 4,020 mAh battery with support for 15W fast charging. The device charges over type c and has support for Pogo Pin. The smartphone has a side-mounted fingerprint sensor for security purposes. The device runs on OneUi 2.0 which is based on Android 10.
The device is only available in single color options i.e. Black. Connectivity options include 4G VoLTE, Wi-Fi 802.11 ac, Bluetooth 5, GPS + GLONASS, USB Type-C, and NFC. The smartphone has an IP68 rating for water and dust resistance and the device is certified as MIL-STD 810G for extreme durability. This also means that the phone can withstand 30 minutes of water dipping up to 1.5m and drop-to-concrete resistance up to 1.2m. The pricing of the smartphone starts at $ 499.99 which is approximately Rs 35,5000 in India. The device will be available from the first half of 2020 in the US for people to buy.
