The South-Korean OEM Samsung has launched a rugged smartphone called Samsung Galaxy XCover Pro. It comes with a punch-hole display, a complete rugged body, IP68 water & dust protection, a removable battery, dual rear cameras, side-mounted fingerprint sensor, MIL-STD-810G compliant, and more. The handset is running on Android 10 on the top of One UI 2.0 skin out-of-the-box which is a good thing.
According to the company, this rugged phone is shockproof, waterproof, drop-to-concrete resistance from up to 1.5m, and has two additional buttons that are programmable. The handset has been priced at 499 Euros (INR 39,300 approx) and will be available in Black color option. Currently, the device is available in Finland and the sale starts from January 31, 2020. However, there is no information available for availability in other countries yet.

The device comes with a decent 6.3-inches IPS LCD display with 1080×2400 pixels resolution that offers a 20:9 aspect ratio screen with 418 ppi of pixel density. It’s powered by the octa-core Exynos 9611 SoC, paired with Mali-G72 MP3, 4GB of RAM, 64GB of internal storage option. The storage is expandable up to 512GB via a MicroSD card. It runs on One UI 2.0 based on Android 10.
The device sports a dual rear camera setup of 25MP (wide, f/1.8) + an 8MP (ultrawide, f/2.2) lens that supports Dual-LED flash, HDR, Panorama, PDAF, etc. It packs a 13MP (wide) selfie camera with HDR support. In terms of the connectivity options, the device packs Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac (dual-band), Wi-Fi Direct, Hotspot, Bluetooth 5.0 (A2DP, LE), a 3.5mm audio jack, GPS, A-GPS, NFC, USB Type-C port, etc.
While the Galaxy XCover Pro device has a bigger 4,050mAh removable battery with 15W fast charging support. It features some of the major sensors like a side-mounted fingerprint sensor, ambient light, proximity, compass, and an accelerometer. The device weighs on the heavier side of around 217 grams and offers both the single or dual Nano-SIM slot.
