How to catch a Scorpion in Animal Crossing: New Horizon?
It is all about understanding the pattern when it comes to catching a scorpion in Animal Crossing. You can’t approach a scorpion hastily and expect it to catch. You might actually end up being stung by one and then immediately end up in your residence on the island.
So there are two basic ways to catch a scorpion. You will need a net to catch the scorpion in both the cases, so remember to choose and pick up your net and hold the A button to creep up to the scorpion. Once you get close to it, it will be alert and will raise its guard to warn you. If you continue to move towards it, then it will just chase you and try to attack. Now instead of running away from the scorpion here, you can just release the A button and use your net to get it. You need to make sure that you are at a proper distance from the scorpion when you are swinging the net. The problem with this method is that you might end up being a bit too late or a bit too quick, and the scorpion will get to you and sting you inevitably. If you get stung by the scorpion, you will immediately end up in your residence, and you will lose out on catching it.
Now there is another safe approach to catch the scorpion, and this is actually what you should do when you are really to catch one for yourself. Just like the previous method, get close to the scorpion, but as soon as you notice it is raising its guard, stop moving completely. Wait a while till the creature lowers its guard and then try moving again. It will again raise its guard, and you need to stop your movements. Once you notice that slowly you are getting very close to the scorpion, just hold the A button and creeping up to it again. Your net has a capacity to stretch out two hole lengths. So once you get at a distance of two hole lengths from the scorpion, let go of the button, and the scorpion will be on your net. While approaching the target, make sure that you dont stop moving for too long. Otherwise, the scorpion will just run away. So timing is the key here. As soon as you notice that the scorpion is lowering its guard, move ahead to get closer to it.
In the northern hemisphere, the scorpion spawns between the months of May and October. And it only spawns during the night time from 7 PM to 4 AM.
In the southern hemisphere, the scorpion spawns between the months of November and April. Again here too, it only spawns during the night time from 7 PM to 4 AM.
Now once you caught it, you can choose to either donate it to Blathers’ Museum or sell it for 8,000 bells. Donating to the Blathers’ Museum will take you a step closure to filling out the bug section of the museum. But if you want some extra bells, then you sell it in the Critterpedia, and you will have 8,000 bells added to your income on the island.
