The Smartisan Nut Pro 2 is the latest render from the Chinese oem, Smartisan. The Nut Pro 2 falls under the mid-range category but with it’s appearance and the features the device boasts of, I’d say it is an ultra-premium smartphone which could serve as a benchmark to what upcoming modern-day smartphones should look like.
On the Nut Pro 2, Smartisan introduced some new features that weren’t found on the older Smartisan Nut Pro smartphone and with the device’s flagship-level specs, coupled with its affordability, the Smartisan Nut Pro 2 could be your next smartphone – or better yet, daily driver.

Smartisan Nut Pro 2: Review
The metal and glass body of the Smartisan Nut Pro 2 goes a long way in spelling out how much of a premium device it is. Though the glass covering on the rear may retain finger prints during usage, the aesthetic offering of the glossy glass on the front and rear is stunning, and the Smartisan Nut Pro 2 has one of the best glass-metal build I have seen on a smartphone in a while.
I should also mention that the Smartisan Nut Pro 2 jumps on the bezel-less 18:9 aspect ratio trend which makes the device sleek and easily operable with one hand despite the big body and display size. The Smartisan Nut Pro was a huge device and had bigger bezels, so the bezel-less Nut Pro 2 is quite a worthy upgrade.
Another design factor that I particularly love is the change in position of the fingerprint scanner — to allow more space on the front for the display and minimize the amount of available bezels.
The sensor for fingerprint identification is embedded in the Smartisan logo (represented by the capital letter “T”) on the rear and this is a great design and engineering addition.
To the dual rear cameras, they are one of the best you would find in the market. The primary lens is a 12-megapixels Sony IMX386 Exmor RS CMOS sensor while the secondary lens is a 5-megapixels S5K4E8 sensor manufactured by Samsung. Both sensors work in tandem and can shoot images and videos in high quality (up to 4k resolution) and are assisted by a LED flash light.
The primary camera has a wide f1.8 aperture whole the secondary lens has a f2.0 aperture. Some modes of the camera include manual mode, blur filter glass, ISO settings, HDR, Panorama etc.
The side and edges of the Nut Pro 2 are made of metal and on the right-hand side, the three buttons you would pretty much find on any smartphone (volume up, volume down, and power button) are embedded. On the left-hand side, there is a single tiny button for launching and editing your to-do list, quick voice recording, and many other shortcut functionalities.
Above the tiny little button is the slot that houses the dual SIM cards. Sadly, there is no micro SD card slot and this means the on-board internal storage cannot be expanded. However, quite interesting is the fact that on the basis of storage, the Smartisan Nut Pro 2 comes in 5 different variants: 4GB RAM/32GB ROM, 4GB RAM/64GB, 6GB RAM/64GB ROM, 6GB RAM/128GB ROM, and 6GB RAM/256GB.
At the bottom, there is a reversible USB Type-C port which, together with the inherent Qualcomm Quick Charge technology, allows for fast charge of the 3,500mAh built-in battery. The USB-C port is also the port for headphones and headset as the device lacks the traditional 3.5mm headphone jack. Luckily, it ships with a USB-C to 3.5mm headphone cable.
At the top of the display, there is a tiny slit which is the earpiece for receiving phone calls and below it is the 16-megapixels selfie camera which the smartphone uses for Facial Recognition unlock (otherwise called Face ID). It is also pertinent to state that the glass covering on the front is scratch resistant and comes hardened with the Corning Gorilla Glass 3.
On the inside, the Smartisan Nut Pro 2 runs the Smartisan v4.0 OS based on Android Nougat v7.0. Interestingly, there is an option to run unmuffled stick Android on the device. This is that device for lovers of stick OS and also for those who love custom UI.
The Nut Pro 2 runs the Snapdragon 660 system-on-chip and Adreno 510 graphics processing unit. With this, you can play heavy high quality games without the device heating up or slowing down.
