Design
Like the Ulefone Armor 2, the Armor 2S retains the same aesthetic design, colour and uses the same metal-plastic material on the outer covering. The Armor 2S is a heavy and thick device – as it is with many rugged phones – weighing a huge 270 grams and 14.5mm thick according to official measurements.
The Armor 2S features the latest version of Ingress-Protection (IP68) which confers the device with waterproof and dustproof capabilities. The ports and openings of the device are also constructed in a way to allow zilch entry of water and dust.
On the rear, the single primary camera, LED flash and 2 speaker grills are present. Below the display, there is a physical home button that doubles as the fingerprint sensor.
Display
In charge of visuals is a 5.0-inch IPS LCD capacitive touchscreen. The display is densely pixellated and has a Full-HD resolution and 441 pixel-per-inch pixel density. The glass covering of the screen is scratch resistant and comes with the Corning Gorilla Glass system of protection.
This is the same display as used on the Ulefone Armor 2; size and quality wise.
Processing, OS, and Storage
Compared to its predecessor, the Ulefone Armor 2S comes with quite old, less powerful processor and storage properties.
Under the hood, the Armor 2S uses the MediaTek MT6737T SoC which has 4 CPU cores based on the Cortex-A53 architecture and can clock up to 1.5GHz frequency speed. The GPU is the ARM Mali T720.
Storage wise, there is 2GB of available RAM and 16GB of internal memory. The device supports external memory up to 64GB via the second SIM card slot that doubles as the Micro SD card slot. Out of the box, the Ulefone Armor 2S runs the Android Nougat v7.1 operating system. This means asides the basic physical perks of a rugged phone, you get to enjoy fluid multi-tasking, fast processes and efficient power saving features from the OS-RAM combination.
Camera
On the rear, there is a 13-megapixels lens and dual LED flash for basic photography while the 8-megapixels lens on the front with a f2.2 aperture takes up the role of producing beautiful selfies on adventures.
The primary camera on the rear comes with a wider f2.0 aperture and thanks to the IP68 certification, you can take crystal clear underwater shots with the device. There you go – the perfect phone to take to your next swimming trip. There really is no need for special water-resistant action camera anymore.
Battery
Being a rugged smartphone, there is a rugged battery backup. The powerhouse of the device is a 4,700mAh non-detachable Lithium Ion battery that charges in 2-3 hours and provides between 15 to 25 hours of usage time, depending on the intensity of usage.
