Finally, Vivo has given us the teaser or shall we say the successor for APEX, the APEX 2019. With the new device, Vivo is all ready to take on the next leap in the world of mobile devices. The display fingerprint sensor beneath the screen usually covers only a particular area and we all are aware of that, but now the APEX 2019 will have the full-screen functioning as a fingerprint sensor. Yes, now you can touch anywhere on the display to open the phone.
‘Waterdrop’ I’d the code name was given to the Vivo APEX 2019 and does give a hint of following Meizu and their recently launched Meizu Zero concept. Like the Meizu Zero, the Vivo also will have no ports, no buttons and no notch. Indirectly, the design is also quite similar to the Meizu Zero, but as far as the looks are concerned, it looks like a marble pebble. The device is as curvy on the edges as it can get.
Yes, being a successor the APEX 2019 is definitely going on the footsteps of the APEX and still brings the same innovative slim bezels with a bigger screen to body-ratio design. Though this time around, the APEX 2019 has a much sleeker Unibody curved glass design with a 6.39-inch AMOLED display. As told above of no ports hence, there are no headphone jacks or USB ports in the phone and questions related to- how to charge, are bound to arise.
OK, so if there is no charging port in the Vivo APEX 2019, then how to charge, well, the Vivo APEX 2019 is going to use a rear-mounted magnetic connector, known as the MagPort by Vivo, which will also work to transfer data as well. Yes, many would prefer the device comes with a wireless charger but looks like that might not happen.
As for the hardware the Vivo APEX 2019 is going to run on Qualcomm Snapdragon 855, which has been just announced that the chipsets are going to be paired with either a 256GB or a 512GB internal storage. A point to be noted is- APEX 2019 is also going to be the first 5G phone from Vivo that has clearly disclosed on using the Qualcomm X50 5G modem in place of the X24, used by most of the devices this year.
As for the camera setup, well, the Vivo APEX 2019 is going to have two rear cameras both placed in the top middle of the back panel and the camera setup will be followed by a LED flash. No notch, no buttons and no ports so what about the selfie camera. Odd, but true Vivo is still tight-lipped on the front or selfie camera. Matter of fact, there might not be a front or selfie camera. As for camera specs, the Vivo APEX 2019 will support a primary 12MP primary sensor and a 13MP secondary sensor paired with LED flash.
Not to speak about the audio focus, would be a crime here, so let’s begin. This time around Vivo has really focused on the audio with the APEX 2019. The APEX 2019 is going to have a body sound casting technology that will enable the screen to work as a speaker that will give you a seamless audio entertainment. Now, if there are no ports, holes or buttons, something had to be done so, a screen speaker is an answer.
According to the company reports in, the new APEX 2019 from Vivo shall be attending the MWC (Mobile World Congress) to be held in Barcelona by the end of February. The viewers will be in the lucky list as they will get to view the APEX 2019 in love action.
