Xiaomi announces Mi 5X with 4GB of RAM

Xiaomi has finally released the next smartphone in the Mi series after the recently launched Mi 6 which is the flagship smartphone from the company. The latest smartphone is the Mi 5X and the smartphone was heavily leaked before its announcement. The Xiaomi Mi 5X is an upgrade to the Xiaomi Mi 5 and the major change on the smartphone is that it contains a dual camera setup on the back. The Xiaomi Mi 5X is a mid-range smartphone but the handset has some decent specifications which are worth the price. Apart from that, the Mi 5X becomes the first smartphone from the company to come with MIUI 9 out-of-the-box.

As far as the specifications of the Xiaomi Mi 5X are concerned, the smartphone comes with 5.5-inch full-HD (1080×1920 pixels) LTPS display and will run on MIUI 9 based on Android 7.0 Nougat. It is powered by a 64-bit octa-core Snapdragon 625 SoC clocked at up to 2GHz coupled with 4GB of RAM. Apart from that, the smartphone consists of a dual rear camera setup which is a 12-megapixel wide-angle with 1.25-micron pixel sensor and f/2.2 aperture, and a 12-megapixel telephoto with 1-micron pixel sensor and f/2.6 aperture. It comes with a Portrait Mode for bokeh effects which is due to the dual camera present on the phone. It also has a 5MP front camera for taking selfies.

In terms of pricing, the Xiaomi Mi 5X is launched in China at a price of CNY 1,499 which is approximately Rs. 14,000 in India. As far as the pricing is concerned, the smartphone will come at the similar price to the Moto G5 Plus or the Moto G5S Plus which is expected to be announced soon. The Mi 5X will come in Black, Gold and Pink colour options. There is only one RAM/ storage variant at launch – 4GB RAM/ 64GB storage.
