After several leaks and rumors, a Chinese smartphone company unveiled Xiaomi Mi A2 and Mi A2 smartphones at a global launch event in Spain. Both the smartphones are Stock Android One edition and come with project treble support. The Mi A2 and Mi A2 Lite are also known as Redmi Mi 6X and Redmi 6 Pro in China respectively. The company recently launched Mi 6X and Redmi 6 Pro in China and runs on MIUI 9 custom UI while the Mi A2 and Mi A2 Lite come with pre-installed Stock Android OS. The company also promised that it will release the Android 9.0 P OS update for the phones, earliest.
Xiaomi Mi A2
XIaomi Mi A2 comes with an arc-shaped aluminium body with glass penal on the front side. The body dimensions of the phone are 158.7 x 75.4 x 7.3 mm and weighs 166 grams. The Mi A2 has 5.99-inch IPS display that supports 1,080 x 2,160 pixels of resolution and offers 18:9 aspect ratio. On the screen, there is 2.5D Corning Gorilla Glass for protection. The display offers 85% NTSC color coverage and 1,500:1 contrast ratio. The Mi A2 will available in Black, Blue, Red, Gold and Rose Gold.
The Mi A2 powered by Octa-Core CPU under the hood along with Qualcomm SDM660 Snapdragon 660 chipset. There are two RAM models released, 4 GB of RAM Mi A2 base model and 6 GB of RAM top model. There are 3 memory variants, 32 GB, 64 GB and 128 GB internal storage option. Unfortunately, there is no micro SD card slot on board.
The phone featured with dual camera sensors on the back side along with LED flash, HDR and panorama. There is 20-megapixel Sony IM376 main camera with f/1.75 aperture and 2-micron 4-in-1 Super Pixel for taking bright pictures in low light conditions. The main rear camera also has a 12-megapixel Sony IMX486 secondary camera with f/1.75 aperture and larger 1.25µm pixels. Users can also switch between the two cameras manually, depending on the conditions. On the front side, there is a 20-megapixel Sony IMX376 camera with 1µm pixels and LED flash for selfies and video calls. It also comes with AI-powered bokeh effect and HDR.
The phone is packed with 3,000 mAh capacity battery inside the body which also supports Quick Charge 3.0 fast charging charger. It runs on pure Android 8.1 Oreo operating system and for the better graphics experience, it has Adreno 512 GPU on board. It has a fingerprint scanner on the back side. In terms of connectivity, The Mi A2 comes with 4G VoLTE, Wi-Fi 802.11ac, Bluetooth 5.0 and more.
The Xiaomi Mi A2 4 GB RAM and 32 GB storage model available at €250 (around $291) price tag and 4 GB RAM and 64 GB storage Mi A2 available at €280 (around $326) price tag. While the top model of the Mi A2 6 GB RAM and 128 GB storage is available at €350 ($408) price tag. The company will launch the phone in 40 markets. The Mi A2 will be launched in France on July 27, in Italy on August 8 and Spain on August 10.
Xiaomi Mi A2 Lite
Xiaomi Mi A2 Lite smartphone comes with the metal body and looks pretty good. The body dimensions of the Mi A2 Lite are 149.3 x 71.7 x 8.8 mm and weighs 178 grams. The Mi A2 has no notch design on top while the Lite version of the phone comes with notch design. The notch on the top carries a selfie camera and sensors. The phone features a 5.84-inch IPS display that supports 2280 x 1080 pixels of resolution and offers 19:9 aspect ratio. It also offers around 79.5% screen-to-body ratio and around 432 PPI density.
There is two RAM and ROM variants of the Xiaomi Mi A2 Lite announced by the company. The 3 GB of RAM Mi A2 Lite comes with 32 GB internal storage and 4 GB RAM has 64 GB internal storage. Both the models have micro SD card slot on board that supports external storage up to 256 GB. The phone is powered by Octa-core CPU under the hood which clocks at 2.0 GHz along with Qualcomm MSM8953 Snapdragon 625. To offer a better graphics experience when playing games and watching movies, the company packed the with Adreno 506.
The Mi A2 Lite also comes with dual camera sensors on the back side with LED flash, HDR, panorama. There is a 12-megapixel main camera with f/2.2 aperture, 1.25-micron pixels and PDAF and 5-megapixel secondary camera with f/2.2aperture and 1.12-micron pixels. On the front side, it has a 5-megapixel camera with a f/2.0 aperture for selfies and video calls. The phone also comes under the Android One program which means it runs on pure Android 8.1 Oreo operating system out of the box.
The phone is packed with a bigger battery than the Mi A2, Non-removable Li-Po 4000 mAh battery. The phone is available in Black, Blue, Gold color option. In terms of connectivity, it supports 4G, micro USB 2.0 and 3.5mm audio jack. There is a fingerprint scanner too on the back side of the phone.
Xiaomi launched the Mi A2 Lite 3 GB RAM and 32 GB storage model at €180 (around $209) price tag and the 4 GB RAM and 64 GB model available at €230 (around $268) price tag. The company launched the phone in France first on July 27 after that in Italy on August 8 and Spain on August 10.
