Xiaomi Redmi 5 and Redmi 5 plus is going to be launched in India. It was launched in China in last December as Redmi note 5. Xiaomi watches testing the launch of new “Compact Powerhouse” Redmi smartphone since the last week. On an online event conducted on Wednesday, the company launched Redmi 5 in India.
The Redmi 5 is an updated version of Redmi 4X, it was sold as Redmi 4 in India. It was one of the budgeted phones from Xiaomi in Redmi series. The price of the phone will be starting from RS 7999 for the 2 GB ram and 16 GB internal for the low-end phones and goes all the way up to RS 10999 for 4GB RAM and 64GB internal variant.

Xiaomi Redmi 5 features the Qualcomm Snapdragon 450 system-on-chip which is downgrade variant of we Snapdragon 625. Both the Snapdragon 430 and 435 were manufactured on an old 28 nm process while the new Redmi 5 give an enormous power efficiency advantage over Redmi 4.
The new Redmi 5 will be available in 3 versions: 2 GB of RAM with 16GB internal, 3 GB of RAM with 32GB internal 4 GB of RAM with 64GB internal. It’ll be having a hybrid sim slot which means you can either use both the Sims or a single SIM with micro SD.
The major upgrade of Redmi 5 compared to Redmi 4s is the display. The new Redmi 5 is having a display of 5.7 inches HD+ IPS display with an 18:9 aspect ratio. Redmi 4s was having only a 5-inch display with 16:9 display. Xiaomi MI mix was the only phone with a full display but now the features have come to a budgeted phone. It will be hard to complain about the display resolution considering the price of the device. The display comes with rounded corners.
It will be having an upgraded camera as well. Rear camera vs MP with f/2.2 the rear camera specifications will be same for Redmi Note 5. The front camera will be 5 MB with flash.
When it comes to battery backup it is downgraded to 3300 mAh which was 4100 mAh in Redmi 4’s. Even though the battery backup is reduced it is said to be power efficient. Snapdragon 450 is more power efficient than Snapdragon 435. And hence it is believed to get a 1-day battery backup.
Redmi 5 and Redmi note 5 run with Android 7.1 Nougat. And the company is demanding that this is the thinnest smartphone from Redmi yet.

Pricing and Availability
Redmi 5 will be available on market from 20 March. You could buy it from MI.com, Amazon, MI home stores. The phone with 2GB RAM and 16GB internal we’ll be costing RS 7999 and 3 GB RAM and 32GB internal will be costing RS 8999 and the highest end 4GB RAM and 64GB internal variant will be costing RS 10999.
