What is Custom ROM?

To understand the Custom ROM, let’s get a brief idea of the Stock ROM. Starting off, the Stock Firmware always comes preloaded in the smartphone or tablet devices which is literally designed and optimized for the specific device models. But due to the limited options or functionalities on the Stock ROM and the unlimited possibilities of customization in Android OS, more and more users are interested in flashing and using the Custom ROM.

So, the Custom ROM is an aftermarket firmware that replaces the stock firmware on your Android devices by flashing it after unlocking the device bootloader. The Custom Firmware is based on the AOSP (Android Open Source Project) developed by Google. Once Android device users install the custom firmware, they can easily flash other modules, third-party files, enable root access, customize visual elements, icons, fonts, and more.
