How to farm Echo Shells in Horizon Zero Dawn?

One of the essential items, the Potions Pouch is something that you can craft only when you have an ample amount of Echo shells. Potions Pouch is an absolute necessity when you go off to fight against the tougher enemies in the latter half of the game. Then there are also the Tearblast Arrows and the Forgefire Ammo Pouch which require a fair share of Echo shells too. So all in all the requirement for Echo Shells in the game is quite high, and if you want to keep progressing through the game, you will need this resource in abundance.

So Echo shells are a necessity for crafting ammunition, crafting items, Trading with Merchants, and selling them for Metal Shards.

Enemies:

Much like all the other resources in the game, you can also get Echo Shells from enemies as many enemies have a chance of dropping them. When we talk about Echo shells, the enemies that have been reported to drop this resource are Longlegs, Behemoth, Longleg, Rockbreaker, Stalker, Stormbird, and Thunderjaw. You can easily find any one of these enemies by merely searching for them in the map itself.

Locations:

One of the easiest ways to get this resource in the game is to collect them from crates present all around the map. Just spawn at the campfire location which is just a bit to the south from the Ravager site present in the middle of the map. From that site, go a bit north, and you will find a few Shell-Walker Crates there. Go to these crates and collect everything that you see here. Then come back to the campsite and save the game. TOpen the options and choose “Restart from save”. Then repeat the process and collect more resources from the crate. Now, the spawn rate in these crates is relatively low, and it will take several repetitions to get the required amount of Echo shells finally, but it is still the easiest way to get this resource.

Alternative resource:

Now there is also the option of trading or selling another resource for Echo shells. By another resource, we mean Metal Shards. Metal Shards is one of the most readily available resources throughout the game, and you can use this resource to get some Echo shells. You can sell off the Metal Shards to Merchants in exchange for some Echo Shells. In the normal difficulty, you get 50 Echo shells for 50 Metal shards, and in the ultra-hard mode, you get 50 Echo shells for 150 Metal Shards.

If you have other resources in abundance and not Metal Shards, then you can sell or trade those resources for some Metal Shards. And then use those Shards to get some Echo shells. So basically, you can use any resource in the game to get some Echo shells.
