The Survivalists | How to Explore the island

If you’ve already started playing The Survivalists, then you already have a part of the island to yourself where you have a Bed, a Campfire, a Small Chest, and Straw Walls to get you through the days. However, the purpose of the game is not to stay there as long and you can and you’ll die if you don’t eat.

That’s why exploring the island is a critical step. Yes, you have a piece of land for your own but you must explore the deeper island and conquer it. To do this, there are a lot of things that you should do there. However, there are a few exploration basics in the game that you should know and we’ll cover them in this guide on how to explore the island in The Survivalists.

The essentials

Before you set off to explore the island in The Survivalists, the first you need to do is get yourself the essential items. These are items that will help you on your journey to overcome certain situations so make sure you have the following item before you set off on your journey. So far, we have 2 essential items for exploring the island – one is a weapon and the other is food to keep you from starving to death. The island has a lot of dangers for you. In addition to this, there are some important items that you can only acquire with a weapon.

Initially, the Wooden Club is a weapon that you can craft early in the game. In order to craft a Wooden Club, you need a Palm Leaf, Rope, and 2 pieces of Timber. With the items handy, open your crafting menu and select the Wooden Club among the weapons. That will successfully craft the Wooden Club for you. Food is the next essential item to keep with you. Find anything that you can, grab them, and store.

Monkeys

As you explore through the island in The Survivalists, you’ll eventually come across monkeys in the game that are trapped inside in cages. If you’re kind-hearted enough, you can choose to save them. If you do want to save them, simply get near the cape, equip your hand axe, and start whacking it on the cage until it’s broken. This will now free the monkeys.

Berries and Hunting

In addition to Monkeys, berries are something else that you’ll see from the early part of exploring the island. You’ll find them as berry bushes and you can utilize them to get berries and timber. In order to get the resources all you have to do is whack the bushes with your hand axe. Doing so will drop these resources. You’ll also find berries near the base of trees and you can easily pick them up without using the hand axe.

Moving on, the game contains a variety of animals such as rabbits, boars, and gazelles. As these animals have been used to the calm environment, the chaos you make by exploring the island will make them run across everywhere. By hunting them down, you’ll get resources like meat and fur. Also, it is worth noting the fact that each animal requires different hunting tactics. Since rabbits are timid creatures that tend to startle easily, you don’t have to even imagine getting close to them. To hunt them, you’ll mostly need a bow and arrow. Unlike rabbits, Gazelles are aggressive animals that will charge towards you when you get near them. For them, a wooden club is enough.
