How to fix Borderlands 2 fatal error issue?

All the solutions mentioned here are simple, and you can easily follow the steps for each process. You need to try one solution after the other until you find the one that works for you.

Run the game as an administrator:

The error message can appear if the game is not getting full access or permission to use the system’s resources. This can be fixed easily by running the game with administrative controls.

Open up Epic launcher and then go to Library.

You will find all your games here. Find Borderlands 2 in this list, right-click on it and choose Properties.

Go to the Local Files tab and choose the “Browse Local Files” option.

This will take you to the directory where the game is installed. Here, find the executable file for the game.

Once you find it, right-click it and choose Run as an administrator.

If the game runs optimally without the fatal error showing up now, then you need to run the game in this manner every time. But if you are still stuck with the fatal error, try the next solution.

Verify the game files:

Since the fatal error in Borderlands 2 is mainly associated with corrupted game files, the next you can take is to check the integrity of your game files.

Open up Epic launcher and then go to Library.
You will find all your games here. Find Borderlands 2 in this list, click the three dots after the title and choose Verify.

This process will take a while. If there is an issue with the game files, you will see the problem on your screen with a possible solution attached. Or the problem could be resolved entirely. However, if, for some reason, even this method does not work, try the next solution mentioned below.

Renew the Config Files:

Re-install the game:
