Fix: Facebook Account Locked Due to Suspicious Activity

With close to 3 billion monthly active users, Facebook is the biggest social media platform in the world. With the massive number of users comes a big responsibility to secure their personal data. The Meta-owned Facebook has strict security policies and community violation rules. It keeps on monitoring user accounts for suspicious or illegal activities and does not think too much before locking the account if such activities are found.

However, there have been times when Facebook has locked users’ accounts even when they didn’t do anything that goes against Facebook policies. Users are then greeted with an error message that reads “Your Account is Temporarily Locked”. Further, the error message contains “We’ve detected suspicious activity on your Facebook account and have temporarily locked it as a security measure”.

Facebook Account Locked Due to Suspicious Activity

If your Facebook account has been locked due to suspicious activity, fret not! There is still a chance to recover your account. In this detailed guide, we’ll tell you how to unlock a locked Facebook account and things you should keep in mind to prevent it from happening again.

Why Has Your Facebook Account Been Temporarily Locked?

If something suspicious has been observed with your account, Facebook will take no time to lock your account temporarily. You will need to verify the ownership of the account to regain access again.

Unfortunately, the error message only mentions “suspicious activity”. It won’t tell you the suspicious activity found on my account.

If you have just created your Facebook account and it has been temporarily locked, it could be because you have already created multiple Facebook accounts on this device.

Using a celebrity photo as your profile picture can also lead to a temporary ban on your Facebook account. Sending too many friend requests is among the reasons.

Here’s the list of potential reasons that can lead to Facebook account blocking:

  • Using a fake profile picture.
  • Sending too many friend requests in a short time period.
  • Too many forgot password attempts in a short space of time.
  • The device has been used to create multiple Facebook accounts.
  • Creating numerous times with the same name on the same device.
  • A sudden increase in posting frequency.
  • Joining too many groups in a short time period.
  • Using third-party tools, bots, or automated software.
  • Requested too many authentication codes.
  • Activities violating Facebook’s Terms or Community Standards.

If any of these activities have been found in your Facebook account, it won’t surprise me if your account gets locked.
