It is possible to disable iCloud Drive on the MacOS, in case you are not really using it. When you turn off the iCloud Drive, the documents stored in it will be wiped off your Mac. You will be given an option to retain a local copy while turning it off, though. Also, this option will disable the iCloud Drive fully on your macOS, unlike just disabling iCloud Desktop and Documents which will store them in the iCloud.

Disabling the iCloud Drive on your Mac
First of all, make sure your Mac is properly connected to the Internet. Then follow the steps given below:
- Open the Apple menu and click on “System Preferences”.
- Choose “iCloud settings”.
- Deselect the box linked to “iCloud Drive”.
- Now confirm that you wish to turn off the iCloud Drive. You can then choose to either keep a download copy of the files from the iCloud Drive or delete them entirely. We recommend the former option, just in case.
- After you are done, close down System preferences.
Once you have turned off iCloud Drive on your Mac, its option should be gone from the Finder sidebar, the Dock, and all other places. You will not be able to save, move, or copy files to the iCloud Drive from your Mac anymore. Remember that iCloud Drive is a very useful feature that helps you easily share files among your devices. So think carefully before doing it.
