Fix Samsung S24, S24 Plus, or S24 Ultra Not Showing Up on PC

If you have any of these flagship devices and for any reason you want to connect it to your PC, either Windows or Mac and when you connect it through a USB cable, and it is not showing on your MC, then you must perform the fixes we have mentioned below:

Fix 1: Check the USB Connection Mode

If you want to connect your Samsung S24, 24Plus, or S24 Ultra phone to your computer, there are several options available to you. It is important to understand that every mode serves a different purpose, and some may not show up on your computer.

In most cases, your phone will only charge and will not communicate with your PC. You can make your computer recognize your phone by changing its connection mode. To do that, follow these steps:

  1. With a USB cable, connect a phone to a computer.
  2. When you pull down the notification bar, you’ll see the current connection mode in the Android system entry.
  3. Open the USB Preferences page by tapping the connection mode item.
  4. You may see File transfer as the option on your phone (your phone may have a different label).
  5. You should now be able to access your phone through File Explorer (Windows) or Finder (Mac). It is now possible to copy files between your device and your computer.

Fix 2: Update the MTP USB Drivers If You Have Windows PC

Your Samsung S24, 24Plus, or S24 Ultra phone needs to be set up in MTP mode if you want to connect it to your computer as a media device. To do this, you must have MTP drivers installed on your Windows PC. It is likely that your computer is already equipped with these drivers. So, by using the Device Manager, you can update outdated drivers easily:

  1. Firstly, using a USB cable, connect your phone to your computer.
  2. Press the Windows key + X and click Device Manager.
  3. To expand Portable Devices, double-click it. Right-click your Android device and choose Update driver.
  4. Navigate to Browse my computer for drivers and select it.
  5. Thereafter, tap on the Let me pick from a list of available drivers option on my computer.
  6. Click on MTP USB Device and select Next.

Fix 3: Use the Android File Transfer Utility (Mac)

It is not possible to directly transfer files from an Android device to a Mac, unlike Windows. To connect your Mac and Android device, you need to install a utility that acts as a bridge. On the official Android website, you can download an application called Android File Transfer:

  1. From the Android website, download the Android File Transfer tool.
  2. To install the tool, launch the downloaded file and drag it to your Applications folder.
  3. To launch the tool, double-click the icon in your Applications folder (or use Spotlight with Command + Space to find it).
  4. Afterwards, connect your Android phone via USB to your computer.
  5. In the newly installed tool, you should see your phone listed.

Fix 4: Reinstall the Android Device Driver (Windows)

In the Device Manager, you may also need to check the Samsung S24, 24Plus, or S24 Ultra Device Driver. Device drivers control communication between your phone and computer in contrast to MTP drivers, which control media storage. It may be impossible for your phone to show up on your PC if your driver is out of date.

You will usually not need to update the device driver if you have successfully updated the MTP driver (as shown above). First, reinstall the device driver if the MTP update fails.

It is necessary to connect your phone via USB to your computer before uninstalling the driver. If your phone does not connect, it should still appear in the system’s list of devices. Also, your PC needs to be connected to the Internet.

  1. Go to the Device Manager and select your Samsung S24, 24Plus, or S24 Ultra device. In most cases, it can be found under Portable Devices.
  2. You can uninstall your phone by right-clicking on its name rather than updating its driver as you would for MTP.
  3. Both your phone and PC should be restarted after you disconnect them.
  4. It should automatically detect and install the latest driver for your phone when you connect it to your PC.

Fix 5: Enable USB Debugging on Your Phone (Windows)

Samsung S24, 24Plus, or S24 Ultra phones offer USB Debugging, which is mainly used by app developers. Through a USB connection, it enables a device to communicate directly with a computer running Android SDK.

In USB Debugging mode, the phone and computer communicate properly by performing a series of troubleshooting checks.

Before you can access USB Debugging on your Android device, you must enable the Developer options.

  1. To access the Debugging section, open the Developer options and scroll down.
  2. You need to confirm you want USB Debugging to be enabled by tapping the USB Debugging option.
  3. Ensure that debugging is working correctly and nothing is interfering with it by restarting your phone.

Fix 6: Run Windows Device Troubleshooter (Windows)

There are several troubleshooters included with Windows 10 and 11 for finding and fixing various types of issues. It’s a good thing you can troubleshoot external devices like your Samsung S24, 24Plus, or S24 Ultra phone as one of these methods.

By using this tool, you can solve connection problems and make your phone appear on your computer. Even though it’s not always perfect, it’s worth trying. It is still possible to access the Hardware and Devices troubleshooter via the command line in Windows 10 and Windows 11:

  1. Firstly, search for Command Prompt and select Run as administrator.
  2. Use the following command: msdt.exe -id DeviceDiagnostic.
  3. Here, you’ll find the Hardware and Devices troubleshooter. To let your device’s issues be detected, click Next.
  4. It will then suggest ways to fix the detected issues once it’s completed.

Fix 7: Use a Different USB Port As Well As Cable

If you’ve followed the steps above and still have a problem, it may be due to a defective or damaged USB port or cable. In this case, your computer will not be able to recognize the device.

There are multiple USB ports on most computers, so you won’t have to worry about that. If your phone doesn’t connect, try another port on your machine. If your computer still does not recognize your device, try connecting using a different USB cable.
