Pokemon Scarlet and Violet: How to Get Cacnea & Cacturne
Cacnea is a Pokemon that resembles the cactus plant, and it is from the Hoenn Region. This is a region from the Ruby, Sapphire, Emerald, Omega Ruby, and Alpha Sapphire games of Pokemon. Many Pokemon from Generation 3 are now coming to Pokemon Scarlet and Violet, to be captured by players. By catching these Pokemon, you can add and register them to your Pokedex, which keeps a record of all Pokemon.
The Grass Type Pokemon evolves into Cacturne and gains dual typing. Cacturne is a Grass and Dark Type Pokemon, and both of them are now available to catch in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet. You need to know the locations, and we have the information for you.
Cacnea Location
Cacnea can be found in only one area on the map, which is the Asado Desert. True to its nature as a Cactus, you will be able to find a lot of Cacnea Pokemon hanging around in the desert. The exact location is the northeast corner of the Asado Desert, so you will need to make your way over there. If you are having trouble locating it, try to look north of Cascarrafa.
As this is a pretty common spawn, you should be able to find the Pokemon easily. It is a green Pokemon that is rather small, but it has arms that are too large for its body. Cacnea is a good choice in battle as a Grass Type Pokemon, if you have picked a Fire or Water Starter Pokemon. To capture the Cacnea, use any Pokemon that has the move Hypnosis. Putting the Pokemon to sleep will make catching it easier.
If you haven’t explored the Asado Desert yet, you need to level up before you can fight those Pokemon. The area has Pokemon from Level 20 all the way to 26, so you will need to be adequately prepared. It is a good idea to defeat two Gyms and a couple of Titan Pokemon before you fight the Cacnea in the Asado Desert. The first two Gym badges will allow you to catch Pokemon up to Level 30.
Cacnea and Cacturne are quite easy Pokemon to catch, so you shouldn’t have too much trouble, as long as you are high-leveled enough. They have many weaknesses such as Flying, Poison, Bug, Fire and Ice Type Pokemon, so you’ll be able to use these moves to catch them. When you own these Pokemon, you can make use of their special attacks to your advantage in battle.
Cacturne Location
As the location for Cacturne is listed as unknown on the Pokedex, you might assume that you cannot catch the Pokemon in the wild. However, this is not the case, as you will also find Cacturne roaming around the same area. However, it is true that the chances of encountering one are lower than that of the Cacnea.
Another way to get Cacturne is to evolve a Cacnea. In this way, you don’t have to go looking for the Pokemon. All you need to do is to level up your Cacnea until it reaches Level 32. At this point, it will turn into a Cacturne automatically. There are no other requirements for the evolution of a Cacnea. In addition to evolving, the Pokemon will gain a Dark Type with its pre-existing Grass Type.
It might take a while for you to reach Level 32 for the Cacnea, so make sure to use some EXP Candies to speed up the process. You can collect a lot of these Candies by participating in raids. If you have high-rated EXP Candies, they will give you more experience points, so try to play high-level raids.
If you want to level up your Cacnea passively, you can send it out to battle Pokemon in the wild. This is done by pressing the ZR button, and your Pokemon will engage in auto battles.
Now that you know how to catch Cacnea and Cacturne in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet, you should be able to do it in your game. We hope that this guide helped you to add them to your party.
