Fix: Element TV White Screen Issue

There are plenty of solutions to fix a white Element TV screen. We have mentioned them in this post along with all the steps. Hopefully, by the end of this post, you’ll have your Element TV back up and running again.

How to Fix Element TV White Screen Issue?

There are a lot of reasons why your Element TV is showing a white screen, such as a defective HDMI port, overheating, bad power supply, corrupted firmware, and more. If you have managed to find the root cause of the problem, apply the most appropriate solution from this guide.

If you are not sure what’s causing the white screen on your TV, apply the solutions in the same order until the issue is fixed. So, let’s dive in and get back the vibrant picture on your Element TV.

There could be an issue with a specific channel causing a white screen. Try changing the channel to check if others are behaving the same way.

1. Power Cycle Your TV

I know you may have already restarted your Element TV a couple of times before reading this guide. But, if it doesn’t make a difference, try power cycling the device. It’s much more effective than a normal restart.

Power cycling your Element TV will refresh the software and remove temporary glitches. It will also clean up residual power left on the board.

To power cycle your Element TV, turn it off and hold down the power button for 30 seconds. Power it on to check if the white screen issue has been resolved.

If the issue persists, remove the power cable. Leave it unplugged for 60 seconds and then reconnect the cable. Turn on your TV to see if it works.

2. Try a Different HDMI Port

If your Element TV is connected to a cable box with an HDMI cord, change the HDMI port. The connected HDMI port on your TV could be malfunctioning.

Modern Element TVs come with multiple HDMI ports. They are named HDMI1, HDMI2, HDMI3, and so on. Unplug the HDMI cord from your TV and connect it to a different port. Remember the HDMI port name.

Since you have changed the HDMI input, you need to change the input source as well. Press the Source button on your TV remote and select the correct HDMI source.

A wrong input source can result in white/black screen issues on the TV. Hence, you must ensure that the correct input source is selected.

3. Check the Cables

If the problem does not resolve after changing the HDMI port, check if the cable is damaged. Unplug the cable from both ends and carefully inspect the cable for any physical damage. Make sure the cable is not bent either as it can affect the signal flow.

A defective HDMI cable is a common reason for the white screen issue. Therefore, you should get a new HDMI cable. Securely connect both ends of the cable and then power on your TV and the cable box.

An Element TV can get stuck on a white screen due to power supply issues. You need to make sure that the TV is getting sufficient power supply from the source. If it’s plugged into a strip, remove the TV’s power cable and plug it directly into the outlet.

A loosely connected power cable can result in screen problems. So, keep this in mind while connecting the power supply.

If your Element TV is connected to a cable box with an RCA (Red White Yellow) cord, ensure that the yellow jack is attached to the yellow port on your TV. The yellow port is responsible for transmitting video signals. So, if it isn’t connected to the correct port, the video may not display.

If there’s no yellow port on your Element TV, attach the yellow jack to the green port.

4. Fix Overheating Issues

The screen can go blank or shut down automatically if it’s overheating. It prevents damage to internal components.

If your Element TV is overheating, power it off. Wait until the device gets cooled down and then turn it on again to check if the white screen issue is fixed.

If your TV overheats frequently, ensure it has proper ventilation. Also, make sure that it is not placed in a hot environment.

5. Check the LVDS Cable

The LVDS (Low Voltage Differential Signaling) cable is responsible for transmitting video signals from the main board to the display panel. If it is loosely connected or damaged, it can disrupt the signal transmission, causing a lot of display issues. This could be the reason for the white screen issue on your Element TV.

The LVDS cable can only be accessed after removing the back panel of the TV. If you are not comfortable disassembling the device, don’t proceed. It’s better to call a certified technician for the purpose.

6. Remove External Devices

If any of the connected external devices is faulty, it can cause issues with your Element TV. To check this, remove all devices and cables connected to your TV including the cable box, and then restart the television.

If your TV screen is not showing a white screen, one of the connected devices has issues. To find the culprit, connect them one by one until the screen goes white again. Replace that particular device and start streaming your favorite shows.

If this solution does not help, there may be a hardware fault. More on this below.

7. Contact Element Support

Even after disconnecting all external devices and cables from your Element TV, if the white screen issue persists, your TV has some hardware failure. Reach out to Element support or call a technician to get your TV repaired.

Wrapping It Up

Element TVs are well-built to survive for years. However, like any other TV, they can also run into various issues. At the end of the day, they are still a piece of tech. If your Element TV is stuck on a white screen, there are effective solutions to fix it. Try power cycling your TV first. If it does not work, try other solutions from this guide.
