How to Fly in LEGO Fortnite

LEGO Fortnite is one of the new permanent game modes introduced in Fortnite, which is a collaboration with LEGO. While Fortnite is a battle royale game, LEGO Fortnite is about survival. Players can explore the game world to gather resources and craft the things they need to survive. There are several types of biomes in the game, each with different natural ingredients that you can collect. However, traveling on foot can sometimes get tiring, especially with all the mobs. As you explore more of the expansive world, you’ll wish there was a way to fly between the biomes. In this guide, we will take you through how to fly in LEGO Fortnite.

In LEGO Fortnite, you can choose between Survival and Sandbox mode, which works similarly to Minecraft. Survival presents a challenge where you need to fight monsters and fend for food and shelter, while Sandbox is where you can collaborate with friends to construct your dream village. In Sandbox mode, it is easy to fly as you need to press a button that makes you float above ground, which makes it easier to build. However, there are a few more steps to flying in Survival, as you must do it realistically. There are several ways to fly in the air in Survival mode. Let’s find out how to fly in LEGO Fortnite.

LEGO Fortnite: How to Fly

How to Fly in LEGO Fortnite

Flying within the Sandbox mode is relatively easy, when compared to Survival Mode. When you have a world in the Sandbox mode, the first thing you need to do is to select it from the Lobby, and open the world. Once you’re in, press once on the jump key while on the ground and once more while in mid-air. On PC, the default jump key is Space.

Once you have pressed the jump key twice, you will be able to fly in the air, and build more easily. You also have other controls which you can see on your screen. These include the sprint key, which is Shift on PC, and it lets you fly faster. Meanwhile, holding down the jump button lets you rise higher into the air, and holding down the crouch button lets you descend. The default crouch button on PC is the Ctrl Key. To exit the flying mode, you’ll need to double-tap the jump key.

Now that you know how to fly in Sandbox mode in LEGO Fortnite, let’s move on to flying in Survival mode.

LEGO Fortnite: How to Fly in Survival Mode

Whether venturing into the ice-cold Frostlands to erect a Shogun Palace or exploring caves in the Grasslands, the ability to fly proves invaluable. The Frostlands area is a huge mountain which you need to climb with built stairs every time you want to reach your icy village, but there’s an easier way to travel up to it, as well as climb down. If you want to swiftly reach your destinations in Survival mode, you need to learn how to fly in LEGO Fortnite.

You can create a Glider to safely descend from high places. This also helps in caves, which might have deep pits. To use a Glider, you will need to equip it on the bottom right slot of your inventory and press the jump key when you’re in the air. Pressing once will activate the Glider, but be careful not to press twice, as you will plummet to the ground, and possibly lose all your health.

To construct a Glider, follow these steps:

  • Craft a Loom using 9 Flexwood, 8 Flexwood Rods, and 6 Sand Claws. You can get Flexwood from cacti, which are located in the Desert. As for Sand Claws, you will need to defeat Sand Wolves in the Desert. To make Flexwood Rods, process the Flexwood through the Lumber Mill.
  • Next, obtain Silk from spiders, commonly found in the Grasslands. Gather Wool from sheep, which can be found in Grasslands or Frostlands. Place Silk and Wool in the Loom to create Silk Thread and Wool Thread.
  • Combine Silk Thread and Wool Thread in the Loom, resulting in Silk Fabric and Wool Fabric (you’ll need 8 of each).
  • Place Flexwood in the Lumber Mill to produce Flexwood Rods; you’ll need 8 of these to craft the Glider.
  • Go to the Crafting Bench, select the Tools tab, and craft the Glider.
  • The crafting requirements for a Glider in LEGO Fortnite include 8 Flexwood Rods, 8 Wool Fabric, and 8 Silk Fabric. Note that you must have upgraded the Crafting Bench to the Rare level to unlock the Glider.

Once equipped, you can use the Glider while in mid-air. However, it consumes Stamina, and if you exhaust your Stamina, you’ll descend rapidly. If you’re travelling across a long distance, make sure to take breaks by dropping down.

You can also build a working plane or hot air balloon in LEGO Fortnite, once you unlock the crafting recipes for Wood foundations, Dynamic Foundation, Balloons, Thrusters, and Activation Switches. You’ll need these components in order to build a functional flying machine.

To construct a simple plane or hot air balloon, the first thing you need to do is to craft Dynamic Foundation using 4 Flexwood pieces, serving as the base structure. Place 2 to 4 Thrusters and an Activation Switch at the rear of the platform. Finally, position a Large Balloon in the middle of the platform and interact with the switch. The flying machine will initiate flight and soar through the LEGO Fortnite skies.

The fast travel mechanism doesn’t exist in LEGO Fortnite, so there is no instant teleportation in the game. This is quite normal for survival games, but hopefully, the devs will create a way for advanced players to craft teleportation portals (just like Minecraft) so that they can travel between their villages easily.

That’s all you need to know on how to fly in LEGO Fortnite. Now that you know the different ways to reach the skies in the game, you can craft a Glider or build the vehicle of your choice. Once you’re in the air, you’ll find that you can cover long distances a lot quicker. We hope that this guide helped you travel faster in LEGO Fortnite.
