Garnering positive acclaim, the game immerses players in a post-apocalyptic world where they face off against new formidable creatures and towering bosses. Available in solo and cooperative modes, Remnant 2 continues the legacy of its predecessor in offering an engaging and challenging gameplay experience.

However, some PC players have encountered the Remnant 2 Exception_Access_Violation error, a technical issue that can hamper gameplay. If you’re experiencing this error, there are several potential causes to consider: inadequate system specifications, conflicting background applications, permissions issues, outdated GPU drivers, corrupted game files, an older game version, missing Visual C++ components, or interference from overlay applications. This guide is designed to help you navigate these issues and implement fixes, ensuring a smoother, uninterrupted gaming experience in Remnant 2.

1. Reboot the PC

First, you’ll need to reboot the PC after closing the game and the client to ensure no conflict with the system resources or a temporary glitch. As a system reboot doesn’t take long, it’s better to do so.

2. Run the Game as an Administrator

The chances are high that you’re not running the Remnant 2 game on the PC with admin access, which might conflict with the user account control (UAC) regarding permission issues. So, you should also run the game application, the Steam client, or the Epic Games Launcher as an administrator on your PC. To do this:

Right-click on the Remnant 2 application on your PC.
Select Properties > Click on the Compatibility tab.

Then click on the Run this program as an administrator checkbox to enable it.
Click on Apply and select OK to save changes.
Once done, do the same steps to run the Steam client or Epic Games Launcher as an administrator.

3. Check for Remnant 2 Updates

Always try checking for the game update manually to the latest version so that you don’t have to fall for any startup crashes or unexpected errors. With each and every patch update, game developers try to push bug fixes & improvements.

For Steam:

Open Steam and go to Library.
Click on Remnant 2 from the left pane.
Steam will automatically search for the available update.
If there is an update available, click on Update.
Make sure to wait for some time until the update completes.
Once done, ensure to reboot the PC to apply changes.

For Epic Games Launcher:

Open the Epic Games Launcher > Head over to Library.
Now, click on the three dots icon next to Remnant 2.
Make sure the Auto Update option is turned on.
It should automatically install the available update.
