Fix: Airtag Not Showing in Find My

Last year, Apple released a brand new product that they called Airtag. This device is basically used to protect your device from being stolen. So, this tracking device is designed to discourage unwanted tracking. Your iPhone will send an alert if you find someone else’s AirTag in your stuff. You will hear a sound from the AirTag after a while if you haven’t found it.

However, unfortunately, there are some issues with the Airtag as many users recently started reporting that the Airtag is not showing on their Find My app. Well, currently, Apple didn’t make any statement regarding this, but don’t worry! We have some fixes for you to resolve the Airtag not showing in Find My app. Let’s take a look at those fixes:

So, here are a few tricks using which you can easily fix the Airtag not showing in Find My app issue. Thus, if you are also encountering this issue, make sure to perform these fixes carefully until you resolve the issue for yourself. Hence, let’s check out the fixes:

Fix 1: Restart Your Device

If you have been experiencing this Error recently, a reboot will be a great idea. There is, however, a possibility that the source of this problem is temporary cache files or a bug that prevents your system from operating properly. If the Airtag does not appear on your Find My app after rebooting your system, try rebooting your system.

Fix 2: Make Sure The Location is Turned On

Possibilities are there that on your iPhone, you may have accidentally disabled the location feature due to which your iPhone is unable to connect to the Airtag. Therefore, you must first check if the location is enabled or not. However, in case you find that the location feature is disabled, then enable it and check to reconnect your Airtag to check whether it is connecting and showing on your Find My app or not.

Fix 3: A Faulty Battery

Your Airtag will most likely show up in Find My if you try one or more of these solutions. No matter what, if your Airtag doesn’t work, you likely have a faulty battery. Change the battery as soon as possible. It would be good to get a professional to inspect the internal board since you could damage it without an expert’s inspection.

They will be able to determine whether the problem is serious or not. When a professional tells you that the battery needs to be replaced, it is best to contact Apple customer support. Depending on your Airtag’s warranty status, you may be able to replace it or get a refund.

Fix 4: Update The Find My App

Did you check if the Find My app is updated on your iPhone or iPad or not? Well, possible chances are there that your Airtag is not showing on the Find My app just because the app is not updated with the latest patch. Therefore, we advise you to check if there is any update available for the Find My app and update it immediately. However, once you are done with updating, check if the Airtag is started appearing on the Find My app or not. 

Fix 5: Reset The Airtag App

If, even after performing the above methods, you find that the Airtag is still not appearing on your iPhone or iPad’s Find My app, then try resetting the Airtag using the steps mentioned: 

  1. To open the AirTag, push down on the stainless steel battery cover.
  2. Rotate it until it stops rotating counterclockwise as you press down.
  3. Unplug the battery and remove the cover.
  4. The battery should make a sound when you press the battery back in.
  5. You hear a sound after each time you replace the battery, remove the battery, and replace the battery four more times. The sound will repeat four times.
  6. Afterward, put the AirTag cover back on. The three tabs on the cover must align with the three slots on the AirTag.
  7. Push down on the cover and rotate the cover clockwise until it stops rotating.

That’s it. You have reset the Airtag, but now you have to set it up again. So, to do so, hover to the next fix. 

Fix 6: Set up And Re-add in Find My

If non of the fixes helped you, make sure to set up and reconnect it to your iPhone or iPad. However, before you start with this, you have to make sure that your iPhone or iPad is running on the latest version of iOS or iPadOS.

  1. AirTags are easy to use. You need to hold your AirTag near your iPhone or iPad, and your device will recognize it.
  2. Press the Connect button and follow the instructions.
  3. The instructions will explain how you can add the item to your Apple ID.
  4. Click Finish to complete the process.

That’s it. Now, you must check if the Airtag is now showing on your Find My app on iPhone or iPad. 

Fix 7: Check For Damage

A possible reason why your Airtag isn’t showing up on Find My is external damage to the device. Unfortunately, whenever we drop our Airtags or damage them externally, the Airtag may also be damaged internally. Therefore, if your Airtag has any type of external damage, please go to the service center immediately so that it can be repaired.
