Pixel 2 was one of the most awaited releases of 2017. It comes with 64/128 GB ROM variants, powered by Snapdragon 835 Processor and 4GB RAM. Its camera is quite powerful that enables phase-detection autofocus, laser autofocus, and HDR+ processing. Along with that, the popular Portrait mode also comes to the device. The camera garnered a lot of praise for its performance. It’s natural that all other popular device users would want to enjoy the camera and its feature. Well, thanks to developer Charles Chow for creating a modded Google Camera APK with portrait mode for 1st gen Pixel and Nexus phones. If you are thinking of how to enable Pixel 2 Portrait Mode on 1st Gen Pixel/Nexus 5X/6P, then Camera NX v7.3 is the tool you require.

Camera NX V7.3 is based on Google Camera 5.1.016. It comes in two versions, the ZSL-enhanced version that includes Motion photos, diet smart-burst, and all ZSL version features. It requires Android 8.0+ OS to run. Another is the ZSL version comes with attributes like ZSL HDR+, hybrid burst, 240 FPS slow-motion, 60FPS video ready etc. Portrait mode will replace the Lens-blur mode in the menu. It also provides the face-retouch feature on both front and rear camera. It requires a human face to bring in action the portrait effect. There will be two burst photos, one is normal ZSL HDR+ photo and the other is applied to the portrait effect. If there is no human face at all, you will get one normal photo.

Further, Portrait mode is a hardware limiting feature. It requires a special type of image data called PD (Pixel detector). Google uses Pixel Detector data to calculate portrait effect on the rear camera lens while using software method on the Front lens. There were some bugs of the HDR+ process and Viewfinder which have been fixed now. Since the App is still under continuous improvement, there might be some glitches with the Auto-focus mode. The developer has assured of future updates to fix any bugs. We have included the download link for the Camera NX v7.3. It’s easy to install yet we have put up a mini tutorial below for the same.
