Now you don’t have to worry about popping out your sim card every time you need to change your carrier, as you can use an E-SIM instead of a traditional SIM card.

An E-SIM is a programmable SIM card that is integrated directly inside the phone that supports it. E-SIM cards are easy to use as the only thing you need to do is register with any network carrier. And if you want to change the carrier, you can just program for that particular carrier.

The process of registering an E-SIM is different as you need to first find the EID number for your E-SIM to setup it on your device. Currently, only a few phone manufacturers have started integrating E-SIMs to their phones. Nonetheless, the trend has gained momentum and soon we will get to see E-SIM in more phones.

The EID number is similar to the IMEI number. Like a phone requires the IMEI (International mobile equipment identity) number to use mobile networks, similarly, a phone with an E-SIM needs the EID (Embedded identity document) number in order to register for certain mobile networks.

Majority of the network providers require an EID number to register your E-SIM, but there are a few carriers that don’t need it.

In order to access your E-SIM, you need an EID. There are two ways to find the EID number for your phone. The first way is checking your phone settings, and the second is checking the box of your smartphone.

EID number in Samsung phones

For Samsung phones, you have to go to the home screen and then swipe up to open the menu. Now scroll right to find the Settings.

In the settings menu, scroll down to find the “About phone” option.

Now, you will see an option called “Status information“, click on it.

There you will see all the necessary information like EID number, IMEI and serial number. Tap on EID to see the exact number for your E-SIM setup.

EID number for iPhone

For iPhones, find Settings in the home screen and tap it. Now in the settings menu, scroll down a little to find the General option.

This will take you to a new menu. Now you will see the “About” option at the very top, click on it.

In the new section, you see the IMEI, serial number and the EID number. Tap on EID to see the number.

EID number for Pixel devices

For Pixel phones, first swipe up from the home screen to open the menu. Now find the Settings icon and tap it.

In the settings menu scroll down to find the “About phone” option.

In the new screen, scroll down a bit to find the “Sim status” option, click on it.

Now scroll down to find the EID option. Tap on it to view the number.

For any other Android device supporting E-SIM

Since many Android companies are providing stock Android in their devices, the steps to find EID numbers will be quite similar to the Pixel phones.

In order to find the EID number for other Android devices, kindly go to the settings menu and scroll down to find the “About phone” option.

In the new screen, scroll down a bit to find the “Sim status” option, and click on it.

Scroll down to find the EID option. Tap on it to view the number.

Other ways to find EID number

Now, there’s another way to find the EID number for your phone. To find it, all you need is the box of your phone.

Check the back side of the box where all the information is printed. Now check for the EID number. The EID will be alongside the IMEI number. Usually, it’s mentioned in the lower half of the box.

Note: Although many network carriers require you to provide the EID number in order to register the E-SIM, but, certain carriers don’t require you to do so. If you want to register your E-SIM without the EID, you can opt for Airtel E-SIM.
