How to fix Bittorrent’s slow download speed?

All the solutions mentioned here are simple. So try one solution after the other until your issue is resolved.

Check the number of Seeders:

Seeders in the torrent are like file sharers who have also downloaded the torrent file. The more the number of seeders for a torrent, the more the download speed. So if you have a high number of seeders for your torrent file, your download speed should be fine. But you will have trouble getting proper download speeds if you have minimal or close to zero seeders on your torrent file and much more leechers. In this scenario, looking for an alternate torrent file with a high number of seeders and a low number of leechers is best.

WiFi Blocked:

There is a chance that your ISP is monitoring the traffic on your connection. And if they have any block on BitTorrent servers, your download might not work or be slower than usual. To check this, you can try connecting to a different network entirely. If the BitTorrent download speeds are not struggling, then the problem is actually with your ISP. You can contact your ISP about the block or switch over to another ISP entirely.

If this is not the cause behind your problem, move on to the next solution.

Check Your Internet Speed:

This is the first thing you might have considered when you saw the slow download speeds on your application. But before you get to that conclusion, first check whether the other devices connected to the same network are getting better speeds or not. If they are getting better speed,s then the problem is not with the internet speed. It is something else. But if you are experiencing slow internet speed across all the connected devices, you need to change your ISP.Try the next one if this solution does not work for you.

Use VPN:

ISPs may not block torrent sites’ access completely on their network, but they might throttle the bandwidth for it. So you will get reduced speeds when you are downloading files from torrents. This bandwidth capping is due to the pressure from several organizations to limit file sharing via torrent. But there is a simple way around it. You can use a VPN service of your choice and select any location you want to eliminate the bandwidth limitations. Try the next one if this solution does not work for you.

Update Windows:

If you are on an older version or build of Windows,s then the BitTorrent client may not work flawlessly. The older OS version could restrict the latest version of the application from accessing the required bandwidth for high-speed downloads. So you need to update your Windows to the newest version and then try downloading files via BitTorrent again.

Allow BitTorrent client through Firewall:

Antivirus programs and even Windows default firewall programs implement several restrictions on different app functionalities. Some of these applications have been guilty of doing the same with the BitTorrent application. So you need to turn off the real-time protection of your antivirus and disable Windows’s default firewall altogether. Once the download is complete, you can turn it on again.
