Fix Google App Dark Mode Issue on OnePlus 7 Pro

With the introduction of Android 10, one of the major talking points was the introduction of a system-wide dark mode. Alongside that, they also incorporated the forced dark mode feature. The latter option, known as override force-dark, brings a system-wide effect that enables dark mode on various installed apps. Although the same applies to the Google App as well, you wouldn’t be getting the same mileage as expected.

If you wish to check it out, head over to the Settings > About Phone and tap on Build Number 7 times. Then go to System > Advanced > Developer Options and enable the Override force-dark option. But this leaves a lot to be desired. So if it doesn’t give you the desired dark mode in the Google App on your OnePlus 7 Pro, what else could be done? It turns out there is a pretty easy workaround. Just follow the method given below.

Instructions to Follow

The fact of the matter is currently the Google App’s dark mode is in the testing phase. As a result, it will only be available to the beta testers. if you wish to try out the dark mode, all you have to do is just enroll as a beta tester for that app. But before we proceed with the instructions to do so, keep in mind that being in the beta stage, this build of the app might not be as stable as the one currently installed.

However, you will get to test out new features before others. So if you are ready for this trade-off, head over to the Play Store and search for the Google App. Scroll down a little and just beneath the Developer Contact section, there will be “Join the beta” option. Tap on Join and again on the Join option in the confirmation popup that appears.
